Hello Corvallis Community,

Happy Hispanic Heritage Month! Corvallis has a 50% Latino identifying population. We are excited to celebrate the different customs from our represented cultures and learn about a few that aren't represented. We have plans for a small school-wide celebration on October 4th. If you are a level 2 volunteer and you have your district volunteer badge, there may be an opportunity for you on that day.

This week has two 1:30 dismissal days, Tuesday and Wednesday. Tuesday is a professional development day for our teachers. We have a new social studies program to better serve our students.

Family Literacy Night with the Scholastic Book Fair is here! Please join us on Wednesday at 5:30 to shop the book fair and listen to a favorite story read by one of our amazing staff members at 5:45, then drop back by the book fair.

Tomorrow, Tuesday is picture day! Your child brought home an envelope last week. You can also buy your pictures online.

Parent/Teacher conferences are happening this week.

Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday are 1:30 dismissal days. Friday is no school for students.

If you have not scheduled a time to meet with your teacher, please reach out to your teacher for available times.

Working together is the best way to support your child's education journey.

We need more PTA members! We've all enjoyed the events this year. In order for these events to keep happening we need new and more PTA members. Worried about your language skills? Not a problem, we will work that out. Our students tend to play together during the meetings, so feel free to bring them along. You can email corvalliselementarypta@gmail.com for more information.

All of our classrooms need donations of tissues, cleaning wipes, paper towels, and bandaids.

Every school day is a day of learning for our students. It's important that students are in class on time and ready to learn. Our students line up at 8:33 and are in classrooms at 8:35.

Students entering the building from 8:35-8:45 will be greeted by our staff and given a tardy slip to take to class. After 8:45 students will report to the office to obtain a tardy slip.

If your child will not attend school on a particular day you may email cor.att@slzusd.org or call 510-317-4999. Please leave a voice mail. Our office checks it several times a day.

Many of our students suffer anxiety. As a parent, I know how helpless we can feel when our children are suffering. Here is an article that talks about some things parents can do at home. Please reach out to your child's teacher to discuss your concerns. We want to help you and your child work through the anxiety and enjoy school.
