Jerry Pallotta Author Visit
Exciting news! We have an author visiting Coosa on Wednesday, April 9th. Mr. Jerry Pallotta, author of the Who Would Win series, will be visiting our school and meeting with our students.
He has agreed to sign copies of his books while at Coosa. If you are interested in having a signed copy for your student, then please send in one of his books by Monday, April 7th. Please return the sheet of paper below with the book you would like the author to sign.
Please do not send multiple books with your child as he only has time to sign one book per student.
The Month of the Military Child
Did you know that April is The Month of the Military Child? At Coosa, we are so thankful for our military families and love the opportunity to recognize the important role military-connected children play in the community! Please mark your calendars to help us celebrate these special children the week of April 21-25.
We ask that each our our military-connected families send in a family photo, if they have not already. You are welcome to email the photo to michelle.comunale.ess@beaufort.k12.sc.us.

Scholastic Book Fair
The Book Fair will be open to students and families beginning the evening of our STEM Night on Thursday, April 24 (5:30 p.m.).
The Book Fair will be open to students Friday, April 25 - Wednesday, April 30 (excluding weekend dates).
We highly encourage our families to be proactive and set-up an eWallet for your student(s). This eliminates the need for cash and is a very safe and effective way for our students to shop the fair with our librarians, teachers, and volunteers. Please set-up your child's eWallet and learn more about our Book Fair here: https://www.scholastic.com/bf/coosaelementaryschool
If you have any questions about the Book Fair, please email Ms. Kabel: ashley.kabel@beaufort.k12.sc.us
School of Choice
The school of choice application window is still open. Families that attend Coosa Elementary and have moved out of the Coosa school zone are required to apply for school of choice, if planning to attend next year. Students that currently attend Coosa on an approved school of choice application, but are not adhering to the attendance, behavior and grade requirements received notifications on Monday. If you have any questions, please contact administration or Mrs. Tyson, our data specialist.
Field Day
April 11th is our field day for all students. Above are the start times for each grade level. If you are an approved volunteer and are interested in assisting with this event, please reach out to your child's teacher. Each class needs at least 2 volunteers in order for the event to run safely and smoothly. All parents are welcome to attend to cheer on the students. We ask that you arrive in enough time to be checked in at the front office. All guests/volunteers will be required to have a picture ID upon arrival.
Habits for a Happy Home
Sharpen the Saw - Physical Exercise
This week, we revisit Sharpen the Saw by focusing on physical exercise. Encourage your child to engage in physical activity daily, whether it’s going for a walk, playing a sport, or dancing to their favorite music. Physical exercise boosts energy and focus, helping your child stay sharp and healthy. Model a healthy lifestyle by engaging in physical activities yourself, reinforcing the importance of maintaining an active and balanced lifestyle.
Messaging - Contact Information
Please ensure your family’s contact information is up to date. If you have moved, have a new phone number, or need to update a student’s emergency contact(s), please contact Mrs. Tyson at 843-322-6100 or nichelle.mcewen-tyson@beaufort.k12.sc.us.
