Letter from the Principal
Brookwood Family,
We hope you and your children have had a fantastic start to the new school year! The first two days have been filled with excitement and the joyful sounds of students reconnecting with friends and teachers. As we settle into the school routine, we want to ensure everyone is set up for a smooth and successful year. Please review the following reminders and complete any necessary tasks as soon as possible.
Back to School Checklist for Parents:
- Setup/Update Parent Portal Account: Ensure you have access to your Parent Portal account. This is essential for staying informed about your child’s progress and important school updates.
- Complete Parent Permissions in Parent Portal by August 15: Log in to the Parent Portal and complete all required permissions and forms by the deadline.
- Set Up MySchoolBucks Account for Cafeteria Meals: MySchoolBucks is our platform for managing cafeteria payments. Please create or update your account to ensure your child has access to meals.
- Set Up SchoolPay Account for All Other Fees/Items: For all other school-related fees and purchases, please set up a SchoolPay account. This includes items like field trips, class supplies, and extracurricular activities.
- Keep Your Car Rider Number in a Safe Place: If your child is a car rider, make sure to keep your car rider number handy. This helps streamline the pickup process and ensures safety for all students.
- Review the BES Front Desk Tips for Parents and Brookwood Information Handouts Provided at Open House: These documents contain valuable information to help you navigate the school year. Keep them in an accessible place for quick reference.
- Parent Volunteers an Lunch Visitors: We are looking forward to welcoming parents and visitors into the building after Labor Day.
We appreciate your attention to these important tasks and your partnership in creating a supportive and efficient school environment. If you have any questions or need assistance, please do not hesitate to contact our front office.
Thank you for your cooperation and support. We look forward to a wonderful year of growth, learning, and community at Brookwood Elementary!
Love,
Mrs. Moity

FCS Universal Screening Information
Forsyth County Schools is committed to ensuring that each child makes significant academic progress. To do this, we focus on high quality instruction based on the science of reading and math for all students and continuously review information that tells us how each child is progressing. Classroom teachers provide strong instruction daily, working with both large and small groups of students during the designated content time.
All K-5 students are screened three times per year in reading and math. School teams use screening data and decision-making guidance to deliver supportive instruction for students to ensure they are on track to develop strong reading and math skills.
This year's screening windows are:
Fall: August 5 - 23
Winter: December 2 - January 10
Spring: March 10 - 28
Forsyth County Schools has identified these windows to support the implementation of Georgia's Early Literacy Act and Senate Bill 48. If your child is a K-3 student, they will also participate in the recommended foundational reading skills screening for each window. Parents will be informed of the results of universal screening and instructional plans to support their child's literacy development.
If you have any questions, please contact a member of your school's administrative team.
Sincerely,
Dr. Amy Bartlett
Associate Superintendent of Teaching and Learning
