The Mayor's Office of International and Immigrant Affairs visits GLOBE
Today, The GLOBE Academy had the honor of welcoming Ms. Valerie Mills, Senior Manager for the Mayor's Office of International and Immigrant Affairs, along with her team.
The visit highlighted the innovative and impactful work taking place in our classrooms and showcased GLOBE’s distinctive, successful approach to dual language learning.
Ms. Mills expressed enthusiasm about the engaging instruction she observed and the promising opportunities ahead for our students. Her visit affirms the importance of fostering global competence and multilingualism in today’s learners.
Pictured are Mme Juston's 4th grade class and Señora Escobar's class.
Also pictured, Ms. Sandra Daniel, Director of Language Programs, with Ms. Mills and her team—Ms. Victoria Vega; Ms. Holly Malerba, Senior Outreach and Programs Manager; Ms. Christina Chu, Community Outreach Manager; Ms. Elizabeth Swank; and Ms. Naya Patel.
GLOBE's new campus making excellent progress
We are pleased to include some images of the new lower campus as it takes shape. Internet has recently been installed along with fiber lines between campus buildings. The addition of ceiling tiles, along with GLOBE's color scheme, which continues to be applied throughout, gives a pleasing visual impact. Further updates and FAQs in next week's newsletter.

Students enjoyed April's Community Circle event on Friday. This month, the Word Wizard (who may look somewhat familiar) was joined by Ollie, GLOBE's mascot. CREST shout-outs went to Jonathan Brown, Maxwell Cherry, Tishka Gilani, Marley Flynn, and Kedar Patel. Keep up the great work!
Family Literacy Night - May 15, from 6pm to 7:15pm
Get everyone in their pajamas and visit Lower Campus to eat dinner and enjoy a night celebrating literacy!
Caregivers will start the evening with a live webinar with our guest speaker, Dr. Tricia Zucker, author of Strive-For-Five Conversations: A Framework That Gets Kids Talking to Accelerate Their Language Comprehension and Literacy.
While caregivers attend the webinar in the Village Plaza, children will participate in an interactive Read Aloud and activities with a teacher volunteer in classrooms.
After the webinar, caregivers will join their children for food and storytelling fun!
Please complete this form to RSVP!

Checkout is officially closed for the school year. Thank you for making this year in the library so much fun! All outstanding library books must be returned by the last day of school, May 29. Their bedroom, including toy boxes, and under the mattress
In sofas and family bookshelves
In the car, including under seats and in pouches
At friends’ and relatives’ houses
At any clubs the student attends, such as Boys and Girls Club or YMCA

Athletics
Big success in spring sports!
Tennis
In tennis, the Boys team are now back-to-back champions, and the Girls team finished runner-up as defending champions from last year. We are so very proud of the way our tennis players represented GLOBE through what has been a fantastic season. These teams bring two new trophies and two banners back to GLOBE. Congratulations to the players, parents and coaches!
Flag Football
GLOBE's Flag Football team finished 3rd out of 10 teams. They came into the season as the #1 seed and maintained it for most of the season. Their semi-final game against Peachtree didn't go their way, but they represented GLOBE extremely well, and played hard all season. Well done to all the players, parents and coaches.
Volleyball
Boys Volleyball almost defeated the Newton High School JV team on Tuesday, only losing by 2 points in the 3rd set. Scores: 14-25/25-23/18-20. We are super proud of their determination. The team play Peachtree tomorrow (May 1) at GLOBE, for the last game of the season. B Team play at 4:30pm and A Team 5:30pm. Best of luck and go GLOBE!
