A Message from our Principal, Ms. Molitor!
Work Hard - Be Yourself - Do the Right Thing
Bravo, Cast and Crew!
After months of hard work, dedication, and countless rehearsals,
the cast and crew of "Spamalot"
delighted audiences with several impressive performances.
Acting...singing...dancing...performing! Way to go, KA!
Appleton Education Foundation Grants to Benefit KA Students
Kaleidoscope Academy received two grants from the Appleton Education Foundation.
The first award was for $175, and the funds will be used to
replace the drumsticks for the bucket-drumming program for the Newcomer music class.
(Funding provided by the Bob and Gerri Heffron Family Endowment Fund.)
The second award was for $305, and the money will be used to purchase Arts Integration supplies,
such as paint, brushes, modeling clay, foam for models, and colored pencils, for science.
Thank you, AEF!
Underground Spirit Week!
The KA staff kicked off the month of March with an
“Underground Spirit Week” and a surprise theme each day.
Monochromatic Monday – one color from head to toe!
Turnaround Tuesday – dress like a student!
Anything But a Cup Wednesday – drink out of anything...except a cup.
Tropical Thursday – channel your inner sunshine and dress for a day at the beach!
PJ/Sweatpants/Comfy Friday – comfiest clothes to make Friday even better!
Investing in KA Students
Deserving students are awarded Cardinal Cash for doing the right things!
Winners of the weekly drawings can Spin to Win prizes,
attempt to grab more cash in the money box, or take home many other cool prizes.
Keep up the good work, Cardinals!
It's not too late! Tell the students they are great!
Spring testing is coming up! Let your students know you are proud of them and
give them some encouragement to crush this upcoming testing season.
You can write a note to a student, virtually, by completing the Google Form below
(these will be printed off for students). If you prefer handwritten notes,
they can be dropped off at the office (make sure they are addressed to the students).
We will accept notes until Friday, April 4.

Learning the KA Way
Arguing with a Purpose
The students in 6th grade learned how to prove their points using researched evidence.
They fine-tuned their debate skills through in-class, fact-based arguments.
Anthony Prekop, assistant district attorney (ADA) for Winnebago County, visited KA to
explain how he uses debate in his job as a lawyer to research and prepare for trial.
Students demonstrated their new skills during live debates on topics such as:
Do schools need dress codes? Are video games too violent? Should kids get paid to do chores?
So we must ask, with the new debate skills, do we have a future ADA at KA?
Learning from a Broadway Star
More than 30 KA students attended a musical theater workshop at the
Fox Cities Performing Arts Center (PAC).
The award-winning actress Mandy Gonzalez shared her knowledge of musical theater,
plus she provided instructions on movement, music, and expression.
In addition to her acclaimed roles in "Wicked" and "In the Heights,"
Gonzalez is currently starring in the hit Broadway musical "Hamilton".
From Simple to Complex
The KA 6th grade students used cardboard, recycled materials, and
their new understanding of simple machines to build arcade games,
a.k.a. a complex machines, that will be played by other students.
Fun Fridays
Students in Ms. Fulmer's and Ms. Schickert's class eagerly participated in
Fun Friday activities to end the week.
Tasks ranged from doughnut fractions bingo to air-clay creations,
plus diamond art and more!
Students engaged in these activities to help build their classroom community, and
it helped end each week on a positive note!
Shadow Puppet Shows
The 7th graders read Chinese folktales and recreated the story using a shadow puppet show.
Each group chose the story they wanted to retell, broke the story down into scenes,
created a story map, decided which characters were needed,
determined which props were needed,
and then created their shadow puppets and props.
It was impressive to see their creativity come through when
retelling the stories and constructing their shadow puppets and props.
Don't Worry! Be Happy!
Keep me near, squeeze me tight. I'm your little worry stone, I'll be here day or night!
Ms. White's social skills classes recently focused on teen stress management
beyond the universally taught skills.
They incorporated Arts Integration to learn about and make Worry Stones using polymer clay.
Each student made their own stone to keep, and
they created additional Worry Stones to help support their peers.
The 130 stones are different sizes, textures, and shapes.
Each stone included the above-noted message.
Worry Stones were given to the Nest and the school counselors to provide to students.
Ms. White's students reported that holding and rubbing a Worry Stone
can help you focus on the present moment and calm your mind.
The repetitive motion of rubbing the stone can also help reduce stress, tension, and anxiety.

Moving into Spring

Summer School Opportunities
Nuts and Bolts
Nurse News
Summer is approaching! It is time to think about scheduling your student's well-child visit and make sure they are up to date on vaccines. The Wisconsin Immunization Law requires that all students through grade 12 meet a minimum number of required immunizations prior to school attendance. These requirements can be waived only for health, religious or personal conviction reasons.
Please Help Us Keep the Students Safe!
Families that drive their students to school in the morning are encouraged to use extra caution!
Use the drop-off lane in front of the school on Brewster Street. Pull up as far as possible.
Students should exit the vehicles onto the sidewalk rather than the street. Drivers should carefully re-enter the traffic lane. Families that want to sit in the vehicles with their students should park on a nearby street until the bell rings.
