SACS DAILY ANNOUNCEMENTS 4-1-2024

The STEAM and Makerspace Team in collaboration with teachers, and the ECHO Science Center, Montshire Science Museum, and many volunteers are excited to bring you a family evening event– our very own second annual St Albans City School STEAM Festival!

When? Tuesday April 2nd from 5:30 - 7:30pm

Who? Students accompanied by family members in our St Albans City School community

Details: Stations will be set up throughout the school with amazing opportunities to build and create. A giant windwall, an airplane launcher, a giant planetarium, cardboard construction, circuits, laser cutting, spin art, photo booth, robotics, and so much more! Attendees will have opportunities to create things to take home and enter raffles to win great STEAM activities to continue the fun together beyond the event. Link to Flyer about the Event.

MRUSD Board Meeting
Wednesday, April 3rd. 6:00 to 9:00 PM. Location: Central Office. 28 Catherine Street. St. Albans.

Historically, a Solar Eclipse has been shown to create major traffic issues. To ensure the safety of all Maple Run students and staff, Monday, April 8, 2024 will be a no-school day. We will make it up at the end of the school year, similar to a snow day.

The STEAM festival last year was huge and well attended. This year it will be even better and bigger. Please come out and join the event on Tuesday, April 2nd. Here are pictures from last year's event to whet your appetite.

This is the only Walking Wednesday scheduled for April. Please come out and join us on one of the six walking routes led by staff at St. Albans City School. Link to map, meeting points and meet-up times.

John and his therapy dog, Mick, visted with four different classroom groups; Travelers 2nd Grade/Culligan, Adventurers PreK/Boulet, Imagination 2nd Grade/Bachand, Adventurers PreK/Koski. Anyone who wanted to pet Mick had the opportunity to do so. Then, either an assigned student, or a series of student in each class read to John and Mick. Mick proved to be a lovely 8-year old dog, extremely gentle and quite tolerant of lots of touches and love. Everyone noticed that his fur is very soft. 3-29-2024

Friday's weather was sunny and moving towards spring-like conditions. This group of students celebrated the seasonal change by creating a sidewalk chalk mural.

Have you wanted to share with the school about your favorite book? Well you're in luck! If you go down to the library from 2:00 to 2:20 on Mondays and Thursdays you could be on the school podcast! Fellow students will ask you different questions about your book. If you're shy about your voice being recorded this might not be a job for you. We look forward to seeing you in the library soon.

Here is how to participate: Go on 10 bike rides, note when and where. Drop your completed form at the Saint Albans library by Sept 1st, 2024 and prize winners will be drawn!

You could do 10 rides to school.
