Madrona Family Memo
Our Wild Cat Motto: Be Responsible, Be Respectful!
Saturday, September 14 2024
Greetings, Madrona Families!
We had quite a busy week, with Back to School Night on Tuesday, a Welcome Back Assembly and a Welcome Back Wildcats Dance (hosted by the Madrona PTSA) on Friday. This was in addition to all of the learning activities your student was engaged in!
We had a good turnout of families at Back to School Night. Your attendance was greatly appreciated! This kind of engagement, getting to know your student's school, teachers, what students will learn this year, and how to get help, makes a difference in your student's education. If you have any questions about your student's academic progress, please feel free to reach out to their teachers directly. Their contact information is on the Madrona Middle School website under Our School > Staff Directory.
Here is the Madrona Back to School Night Welcome and Madrona PTSA Meeting presentation,
which includes links to school resources (translations: Japanese, Korean, and Spanish).
Our bell schedule includes a Tutorial Period four days a week. This 25-minute period is designed to provide all students with extra time and targeted support on concepts they may have missed. This Monday, teachers will share a presentation that includes the purpose of Tutorial and school expectations during this special period.
This is a gentle reminder that school Picture Day is this Monday, September 16. Photos will be taken during PE periods. See the information below regarding placing school photo orders.
Warm regards from a wonderful weekend!

Student Assembly & Back to School Night!
Thank you for your generous donation, Mrs. Linda Eisenbart
During our Welcome Back Assembly on Friday, our school and Student Leadership recognized Mrs. Linda Eisenbart, a retired Torrance Madrona and Edison Elementary School teacher, for her generous $2,000 donation to Madrona Middle School. Mrs. Eisenbart's donation was on behalf of our much loved Mr. Perry Berke, who also retired from teaching at Madrona in 2005 and currently serves as a substitute teacher at Madrona. Mr. Berke loves Madrona dearly! Mrs. Eisenbart's donation helped us purchase "Berkey," our new Wildcat Mascot, and a new speaker system (mixer/speakers/stands and cables) for school assemblies and events to maintain the Berkey spirit!
Thank you, Madrona Families, for attending Back to School Night!

Join Us on Sunday 10/20 For the Skechers Walk!
Students and families, this year we currently have 2 Madrona Teams (see below) participating in the Pier to Pier Friendship Walk. Let's ignite our school spirit by joining 1 or BOTH of our Madrona School Skechers Pier to Pier Friendship Walk Teams!!! Remember you don't have to actually do the walking you can also join the teams as Virtual Walkers!!!
Madrona Wildcats!' Team
This fundraiser aims to support the Friendship Foundation and enhance our school. We aim to update our Cafeteria/Multi-purpose Room audio/visual system, which is frequently used for family meetings and student assemblies. We currently use an older model projector stationed on a rolling cart connected by multiple cables and power cords. If you have sat in one of our presentations before, you'll notice that this unit may hinder the view of school presentations.
Our fundraising goal of $18,000 is ambitious, but with your support, we can achieve it. This amount will cover the cost of purchasing and installing a new projector screen, ceiling-mounted digital projection system with a wireless connection, state-of-the-art speakers, mixer, equipment rackmounts, security cage, and ceiling-mounted drop-down microphone system for Drama class stage productions. Your contribution, no matter how big or small, will make a difference. Another goal is to have our cafeteria repainted with our new logo incorporated into a unique and eye-catching design, a project that we can all be proud of.
Madrona Leadership Team
We will be walking in the Skechers Pier to Pier Friendship Walk to help make a difference! This important event is organized to raise funds for Madrona Middle School's Leadership students. Our fundraising goal is $2,700 and our students will be using this money to organize our Spring Dance, purchasing birthday gifts for EVERY Wildcat and teachers, equipment and supplies for our assemblies, spirit supplies, and helping to keep our campus beautiful. Thank you for considering us as you donate. We are so grateful for your support!
This year we are hoping to raise $40,000 to go towards the purchase of music, instruments, sound equipment and field trips.
As the South Bay's Best Public Middle School, we have a reputation to uphold. This event is not just a fundraiser; it's a chance for us to come together, show our pride, and make a difference at Madrona Middle School. Let's show everyone why we are THE BEST by signing up to attend and participate in this exciting event!
We hope to see you walking with family and friends at the Skechers Walk on Sunday, October 20!
