BUILDING BRIDGES TO TOMORROW
Building Bridges to Tomorrow is a global collaborative project that joins together students at the lower elementary level (typically grades K-2, 4-7 years old). It is an exciting, challenging and unique experience that allows very young people (and their teachers) to connect and collaborate using different communication modes.
The Building Bridges to Tomorrow Project uses Web 2.0 tools to support communication and interaction as well as collaboration and creation between students and teachers from classrooms around the world. The topics shared and discussed are real-world scenarios that aim to pique interest amongst students as to similarities and differences between classes and cultures.
READ more on the Building Bridges website - don't forget to browse past project showcases.
READ the Teacher Guide - lots of details about what you will do in the project.
Young students love this project, and so do their teachers!
What teachers say about Building Bridges to Tomorrow!
“You'll enrich your learning when you make Flat Connections!” Katie Silva, Wilderness School, Australia
“Great experience. Great way for students to connect and for teachers to improve their IT skills.” Donna Stephens, British International School Phuket, Thailand
“I loved being introduced to new technology to use in the classroom and to connect with other classrooms. I especially enjoyed our meetings as I learned a lot from you all. My boys enjoyed skyping and we will continue to do so in the future. And I'm glad I've been introduced to Voicethread. I will definitely continue to use this tool.” Betsy Tyson
“My students loved seeing other schools around the country and around the world. They loved the idea of creating something with other kids not in their own school.” Kelly Jenkins
“They really enjoyed the handshake and the importance and variety of ways to say hello.” Sharon Davison
“Seeing all of the students from around the country was the most exciting. I really enjoyed the map that pinned all of us. I enjoyed sharing the class pictures. I enjoyed talking with other teachers online.” Michelle Stewart
