Monday Message - Issue 39 May 27, 2024
Happy Memorial Day
Memorial Day is an American holiday, observed on the last Monday of May, honoring the men and women who died while serving in the U.S. military. Memorial Day 2024 will occur on Monday, May 27.
Originally known as Decoration Day, it originated in the years following the Civil War and became an official federal holiday in 1971. Many Americans observe Memorial Day by visiting cemeteries or memorials, holding family gatherings and participating in parades. Unofficially, it marks the beginning of the summer season.

Robotics Club Recognized in Harrisburg
The Coatesville Robotics Club was honored on Tuesday, May 21st on the floor of the State House of Representatives. House Speaker Hon. Joanne E. McClinton recognized the students for their accomplishments at the PA State Championship.
The students also set up a demonstration of their robots on the floor of the rotunda. They answered questions from house members and even had members from both parties working together to operate the robots.
Thank you to Representative Dan Williams for arranging this wonderful event.
AP Environmental Science visits Marsh Creek
Recently our AP Environmental Science Classes went on a field trip to Marsh Creek State Park. This trip served two purposes. One, as a final project, our AP Environmental Science students were required to complete a scavenger hunt of the topics learned throughout the year. For example, students must find an example of a nonrenewable energy source, take a selfie with their example, and provide a written explanation of how their picture relates to the topic. Marsh Creek provided an environmental backdrop for students to explore and gather pictures for their project.
Second, our AP Environmental students have concluded a rigorous and fast paced course. Sometimes, it is necessary to celebrate what you have accomplished and, most importantly, have some fun while also tying it into the environmental science curriculum. Marsh Creek allowed our students to relax, hike, and kayak with friends and nature with a focus.
