Hello, Longwood Families!
What an outstanding start to the year! Our students were spotted forming connections with one another and did an incredible job learning and practicing important routines! We can't wait to welcome everyone back on Monday!
Monday, August 26th:
- We will resume a typical arrival routine on Monday. Doors Open at 8:50am. Students will enter Door #2 (K-2) or Door #3 (3-5). Staff will be available in these hallways to guide students to the correct classrooms. Family members will not be allowed to enter the building. If you need assistance, please enter at Door #1 after 9:30 and check-in at the main office.
- Arrival Routine: 1) Pick-up Breakfast 2) Visit Locker 3) Go to Class
- Students needing breakfast will pickup from a station near Door #2 (K-2) or Door #3 (3-5) Breakfast is free for all students. If students have breakfast before school, they're welcome to pick up a breakfast at school to save for snack time. Please talk with your child about their breakfast, snack, and lunch plans.
*Please note that this week is our first Wednesday of the 2024-25 School Year. Doors Open Late on Wednesdays to allow Longwood staff to gather for professional learning opportunities. Doors Open and Supervision Begins at 9:00am on Wednesdays.

Support Learning at Home π
This year teachers will be assigning At-Home practice to strengthen reading and math skills. This work is not graded but instead is used by each teacher to adjust their instruction to best meet the needs of each student.
- K-2 students will have no more than 25 minutes of combined reading and math practice that will be shared by your childβs teacher
- 3-5 students will have 20 minutes of reading practice and 20 minutes of math practice based on topics being discussed at school

π Arrival & Dismissal Reminders! π
Thank you for supporting a safe arrival and dismissal process. Please see below for important safety reminders:
- We kindly ask families to install students' car seats or boosters on the sidewalk or passenger side of the vehicle. All students must exit and enter their vehicles on the sidewalk side (passenger side) of your vehicle.
- If your child needs assistance buckling their seatbelt, your child will enter your vehicle, you will pull all the way forward to the front of the carline, park, and then support buckling your student.
- Be sure to have your pickup sign displayed for your student with their grade level. Extra copies are in the office.
π Food & Drink π
Water Bottles
- Students are welcome to bring a water bottle to school each day. Extra water bottles are available in the main office.
- Bottles should be filled with water only. No colored juices, soda, or sports drinks, please.
Snack
- Students have a scheduled snack time in their classroom each day.
- Please send your child with one nutritious, nut-free, easy to open snack.
- All classrooms are nut-free this year to support the safety of students and staff members with allergies.
Lunch
Each grade level has a designated lunch/recess time. Students have 15 minutes of recess time, then 20 minutes for lunch. All Longwood students are eligible to order a free lunch meal or they can bring lunch from home. Breakfast & lunch menus can be found HERE. Students will give their lunch order to their teacher when they arrive to school.
Lunch Times: 5th: 11:15 3rd: 11:25 1st: 12:05 2nd: 12:30 4th: 12:55 Kinder: 1:20.
- Students must take a complete meal in order for their meal to be free.
- Students must take all parts of the meal for it to be complete, but are not expected to eat everything they take.
Example: Student orders meatball sub takes carrots, apple, and milk = FREE MEAL
Example: Student orders meatball sub and apple, but does not take milk and carrots = Student Charged for Meal.
*Note: We do not accept UberEats, Grub Hub, or other food delivery services for students.
Treats
To further support a safe and healthy learning environment, we will not allow birthday treats (food related) to be brought to school. If you so choose, a non-food related item can be shared with your childβs class. (ex. Pencil, stickers, etc) Please communicate with your childβs teacher to ensure that the items will support teaching and learning.
