Get ready for a successful 2024-25 school year!
Gwinnett County Public Schools welcomes all students in all grades to the 2024-25 school year on Monday, August 5.
To help students and families prepare for the 2024-25 school year, please review GCPS’ 2024-25 Virtual Back-to-School Backpack for Families. This toolkit includes links to important information and district resources for families as we partner to support student success.
Parents are encouraged to check school websites for the dates and times of planned events. These activities are a great way to prepare for the school year. Students can meet teachers, pick up schedules and supply lists, learn about bus routes, pay for school lunches, and learn about clubs and other participation opportunities. In addition, parents have the opportunity to join the PTA and learn more about their child’s school.
Join us as we count down to the first day of school!

Important Back-to-School Reminders
Expect bus delays as the new school year begins.
The school bus and its driver play a crucial role in a student's daily routine as a vital connection between home and school. While it is important to note that buses can sometimes be delayed on the first days of school, the Transportation Department is committed to working with parents and students to address any challenges that may arise during those first few days. For questions regarding routing, schedules, or bus stops, families can contact the student's school, the Transportation Department's customer service department, or the Transportation Supervisor assigned to the student's school before the first day.
For a smoother experience...
- Review Bus Safety Rules with your student before the first day of school.
- Make sure your child arrives at the correct stop 5-10 minutes before the bus arrives.
Caregivers are responsible for the safety and supervision of their children from the time they leave home in the morning until they board the bus, and from the time their children get off the bus until they arrive home. The care, supervision, and behavior of children at the bus stop (before loading in the morning and after unloading from the school bus in the afternoon) is the parent's responsibility.
Let’s work together to ensure a smooth and successful start to the school year!

Student passwords have been reset for 2024-25, with new security feature
Families should be aware that student passwords have been reset to secure online accounts. When students log into the system for the first time, they will use their date of birth (following this format: MMDDYYYY), and then they will be asked to create a new password for the new school year. During the school day, students will work with their teachers to select two pictures to serve as their first-factor password. After their initial selection, students will no longer type in a password while at school. They will type in their student number and then click on their chosen first and second picture. This change will significantly improve the security of our students' online accounts while maintaining a user-friendly experience for them.
School Nutrition Program
GCPS’ award-winning school nutrition program provides tasty, nutritious meals to students, serving more than 26,500,000 meals throughout the school district last school year. Student Accident Insurance
Is your child a student in GCPS? If so, you may want to consider the purchase of Student Accident Insurance. Student Accident Insurance, which provides coverage specifically for accidental injuries, is made available through our partnership with K & K Insurance. The plan, which has several coverage options, is best used as a supplement to your child’s existing insurance policies. Because GCPS does not cover injuries that occur at school, we encourage parents to consider this reasonably priced insurance product.
For full details about the K & K Student Accident Insurance program, including coverage options and pricing, please review the information provided below:
