South Charlotte Shockwave
October 28- November 1st
Principal's Message
Good Evening, Families:
This past week was filled with excitement. Students participated in fun activities including a pep rally and spirit days throughout the week. The excitement permeated the building and smiles were in abundance. Our sports teams had an awesome week with wins in softball, volleyball, and football. Our Shocker athletes are to be commended for the great job on and off the field.
South Charlotte ranks in the top 15% in school performance amongst all schools in the state (high, middle, elementary, charter, lab, etc.). This ranking is based on 2023-2024 End Of Grade Assessment Data. It has been determined by the state that the GROWTH index of a school is representative of the job teachers do in the classroom as well as the job that students do as well. South Charlotte had a GROWTH index of approximately 4.0. This indicates that our students performed 4.0 standard deviations above the norm. Our students worked hard and we are so very proud of them. We have a goal of being in the top 10% of all schools at the conclusion of this year. Our staff is strong and we are positioned to attain this goal and more. Congratulations to staff and students.
We have another SHOCKING SHOCKER this week, Mason Genett.
Mason was a big help to us this year setting up our daily broadcast. We had a new teacher facilitating it and she needed to learn the process. With Masonโs knowledge and expertise, we were able to have the broadcast ready on Day 1 of school. Mason ran the broadcast just like a NEWS PRODUCER! He continues to produce the broadcast like a pro. Mason also is a member of our golf and tennis teams and is also an excellent student. What stands out the most about Mason is his incredible attitude. He is positive at all times and extremely respectful to adults and peers. Mason received a Chic fil-a gift card and his favorite, STARBURST gummies. Congratulations Mason for being a SHOCKING SHOCKER.
Have a great weekend.

Counselor's Corner
Halloween is approaching and being left out of Halloween plans in middle school can be difficult, especially since Halloween is a holiday that's often celebrated in groups with peers. Below is an article about how to best support your child if they are ever feeling left out with friends. Please reach out to your child's counselor with any questions or concerns!
