Principal Message
Dear Parents and Guardians,
Welcome to the start of a new school year! I hope you had a restful and enjoyable summer with your family. As we begin this academic year, I want to take a moment to extend a warm welcome to all of our returning families and a special greeting to those who are joining our school community for the first time.
Our goal this year is to create a learning environment where every student feels supported, challenged, and encouraged to reach their full potential. We are fortunate to have a dedicated team of teachers and staff who are passionate about providing the best possible education for your child. They have been working hard to prepare engaging lessons and activities that will foster both academic growth and personal development.
Communication between school and home is key to your child’s success. We encourage you to stay involved by attending school events, keeping up with school communications, and reaching out to your child’s teacher or to me whenever you have questions or concerns. Together, we can ensure that your child has a positive and productive school year.
In the coming weeks, we’ll be sharing more information about important dates, school policies, and ways you can get involved in our school community. Please keep an eye on your email and our school website for updates.
I am truly excited about the year ahead and all the opportunities it will bring for our students to learn, grow, and succeed. Thank you for your continued support and partnership. Let’s make this a fantastic school year!
Best regards,
Erik A. Olson
Principal
We are a LEADER IN ME school!
We invite you to read "Welcome to Leader in Me" that explains the student leadership journey we are embarking on at Skyline Elementary. Leader in Me provides Skyline with the vision and language to lead our school in a way that addresses all areas of development. As each child discovers and develops their unique gifts and talents, they are given opportunities to lead. As leaders, they become active, engaged partners in their own education, and their self-confidence, responsibility, and initiative grows. The students quickly understand the benefits of different gifts and talents; they learn to listen to new ideas, work together to achieve results, and motivate one another to be the best they can be.
Together, we will see each child grow throughout the year!

School Safety
School safety is important to us at Skyline! If you are visiting please be sure to check in at our front office. Did you know we have wonderful volunteers who also help to make our school a GREAT place to be! If you're interested in volunteering you must complete the "Volunteer Application" found here Volunteers.
If you are picking up your student after school we respectfully ask that parents are not in the playground area when students are present and playing.
Counseling Corner
Feelings are complicated. They come in different sizes, intensities, and levels of energy that are unique within our brains and bodies. To make them easier to talk about, think about, and regulate, The Zones of Regulation organizes our feelings, states of alertness, and energy levels into four colored Zones – Blue, Green, Yellow, and Red. The simple, common language and visual structure of The Zones of Regulation helps make the complex skill of regulation more concrete for learners and those who support them. We learn to regulate our Zones to meet our goals and task demands, as well as support our overall well-being. This year at Skyline we'll be learning about the Zones of Regulation.
Why Teach Self-Regulation?
Regulation is something everyone continually works on whether we are aware of it or not. We all encounter trying circumstances that can test our limits. If we can recognize when we are becoming less regulated, we are able to do something about it to manage our feelings and get ourselves to a healthy place. This comes more naturally for some, but for others it is a skill that needs more attention and practice. This is the goal of The Zones of Regulation.
Learn more about the Zones of Regulation here: Zones of Regulation
