MCCHS FRIDAY FOCUS
234th ISSUE: August 19, 2022
From the Desk of Mr. Mike Shukis
Dear Marian School Families & Students,
As Superintendent of Marian Central Catholic High School, it is my pleasure to welcome you to the 2022-2023 school year! Everyone at Marian is excited to have the students back in our classrooms and hallways filling our school with energy and enthusiasm for learning. Every new beginning provides each and every one of us with the opportunity to begin again with renewed faith and trust in all that God has in store for us individually and collectively. Together with the administration, teachers and staff, it is our privilege to lead our community and to serve our families and students.
Bishop Malloy has asked all the schools in the diocese to dedicate the next three years to a Eucharistic Renewal. What a wonderful theme as we proceed through this school year, we can remember that He is always with us through the body and blood of Jesus Christ. We call it different names, like “Bread of Life,” “Blessed Sacrament of the Altar” and “Communion.” All good titles, but the fact is The Holy Eucharist is our Lord, Jesus Christ. Knowing this full meaning, The Holy Eucharist will change our lives – if we let it. Our hope is that all of our students, families, faculty and staff will keep the true meaning of the Holy Eucharist in mind during our daily prayers and reflections.
I would like to take a moment and thank our maintenance staff for all their work this summer in getting the school to look its very best. I would also like to thank the office staff for all of their work throughout the summer as they prepared for a smooth start to the school year. The most exciting facility update has been the installation of air conditioning in the second floor of our school building. I have been informed that it should be up and running by Monday of next week. This should be a welcome relief for our students and faculty who have suffered through some very hot days in the past. Please continue to pray for funds to be available to add air conditioning to our first floor classrooms next summer.
As we dedicate this year to the Holy Eucharist and our Lord Jesus Christ, let us pray for His continued blessings on our school and community. We pray for a safe and healthy school year as we seek to do His work.
