Saint Bridget School: a Catholic community that encourages a love of God, respect for all, and academic excellence.
Principal's Notes
I hope everyone enjoyed a wonderful weekend and that the sunshine made an appearance for you and your family!
We had a very busy and uplifting week at Saint Bridget School. We were honored to welcome Superintendent Eileen McLaughlin and Associate Superintendent for Faith Formation Leah Ramsdell to our school. They thoroughly enjoyed their visit, and especially found our Tuesdays Together gathering to be a highlight. Be sure to read Mrs. McLaughlin’s kind reflections in her post below.
We also wrapped up National Poetry Month in creative style with our Poem in Your Pocket Day and the Level 3 Poetry Slam—all under the watchful leadership of Ms. Paige Darling, our Principal for the Day. We ended the week on a joyful note with the Level 3 Dance, which was a hit with our students!
Additionally, our Early Childhood Program brought smiles across the Town of Abington in celebration of May Day! Our youngest students delivered handmade flower baskets to various locations throughout the community, spreading kindness and joy one petal at a time. 🌸 See pictures here: LINK
As we look ahead, please keep our Second Graders in your prayers this week as they prepare to receive their First Holy Communion this Saturday. May God’s grace be with each of them as they take this important step in their faith journey.
This week is also Teacher Appreciation Week. We are truly blessed with an outstanding team of teachers here at Saint Bridget School—professionals who lead with compassion, excellence, and a deep commitment to our mission. Please also join me in recognizing the many support staff and specialists who play a vital role in nurturing and guiding our students each day.
Lastly, please consider supporting Ms. Amanda Lawrence, our dedicated BCBA Therapist, as she prepares for a mission trip to Roatán, Honduras. Her journey is a powerful example of compassion in action, and we’re proud to support her as she shares God’s love with communities in need.
Wishing you a grace-filled week ahead.
All my best,
Matthew Collins
Principal
Honduras Mission - Consider Supporting Ms. Lawrence
Through New Life South Coast Church, Amanda Lawrence is honored to join a dedicated mission team traveling to Roatán, Honduras this year—continuing a powerful legacy of faith-led service that has brought hope and support to countless lives over the past four years.
This mission reaches across the island, serving local schools, prisons, rehabilitation centers, and children’s homes—offering both practical assistance and the transformative message of God’s love.
Ms. Lawrence is seeking support to help fund this meaningful journey. Funds raised will assist with her travel expenses, and directly contribute to supporting the people of Roatán through food distribution, clothing, school supplies, and community outreach programs.
Every gift, no matter the size, makes a difference. Thank you for considering being part of this story of hope, service, and grace in action.

Faith Formation - Weekly Aspirations
Love Others the Way God Loves You
John 13:34 “A new command I give you. Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another.”
Jesus teaches us to love others just as He loves us. At school, we can show love by being friendly, helping others and being a good friend. This makes our school a better place for everyone.
Teacher Spotlight - Guidance - Mrs. McDonald
April is National Poetry month and in Mrs. Read’s writing classes the middle school students have been learning about all kinds of poems. In addition to learning about the structure of different poems, students have also been writing their own poems. Mrs. Read instructed the students to write a 20-line poem on a topic of their choice. Students wrote poems about a variety of things such as a favorite activity, a challenge that they have faced, or a person who has made a difference in their lives.
Wednesday, May 30th was Poem in Your Pocket Day and a yearly tradition for the SBS middle school students is the Poetry Slam. For the festivities students dressed all in black and the Parish hall was decorated. During the Poetry Slam, each student gets the chance to read their poem in front of their peers and teachers. All of the middle school students participate and even the middle school teachers, Father Adrian, and Principal Collins read poems as well. The Poetry Slam allows students to explore their own creative voices and practice performance skills.
Mrs. Read’s favorites: holiday: Thanksgiving; cookie: gingersnap; flower: Rosa Rugosa; place to shop: Etsy; season: spring; Disney character: Tinker Bell and Donald Duck.
