Mrs. Geurin’s Classes
Eighth grade will be working on linear functions and equations covering linear equations in two variables, linear functions and models, and relationships among linear functions. They will then move into their new unit on building linear functions and models where they fit linear functions to data, learn about discrete linear functions and graph piecewise-defined functions.
Science
7th/8th grade will complete their study of Human Body Systems before moving into their topic of Ecosystems.
Mrs. Bradley’s Classes
We will finish our novel study over The Secret Garden. We will do an analysis of the book and the movie. We will move into our unit "The Fight for Freedom." Our essential question will be: What will people risk to be free?
Social Studies
We will identify and analyze methods of expanding the right to participate in the democratic process, including lobbying, non-violent protesting, litigation, and amendments to the U.S. Constitution. They will analyze social issues affecting women, minorities, children, immigrants, and urbanization. They will also trace the historical development of the civil rights movement from the late 1800s through the 21st century, including the 13th, 14th, 15th, and 19th amendments.
