Reminder...
Our Learning Community...
Thank you to everyone who came to Back-To-School Night. What a wonderful turn out! It was a joy to see families learning about their child's classroom, exploring the classroom environment, and connecting with each other. We hope you enjoyed the evening!
If you missed Back-to-School Night on Thursday, handouts will be coming home with your child and a link to Principal Buell's opening message is below. Reach out to your child's classroom teacher and they can send you a copy of their presentation too.
Traffic Safety...
Student safety is our priority during drop off and dismissal. In an effort to make sure that every child is safe coming to school and leaving school, we are asking our community to do the following during morning drop off and afternoon pick up times:
Drop off and Pick Up Procedures:
- Drop off your child early starting at 7:35 a.m.
- If driving, park in the neighborhood and walk your child to the entrance or wait for them at their respective dismissal gate, please DO NOT block our neighbor's driveways with your vehicles!
- Or drop off/pick up curbside. Drivers stay in your car and continue to go straight, no U-Turns/3- point turns in the middle of the street!
- Students should be dropped off on the school side to avoid crossing the street. For students crossing the street, please use the crosswalk at the corner intersection and do not cross in the middle of the road.
The following traffic violations will be cited by San Diego Police:
- Illegal U-Turns
- Using the neighbor’s driveway to make an illegal U-Turn or 3-point turns
- Double Parking
- Parking in loading zones
- Waiting/blocking red zones and driveways
- Jaywalking when vehicles are on the road and it is not safe to do so

SD United for Democracy...
San Diego Unified is dedicated to fostering a vibrant, informed, and engaged community through the power of education and dialogue. To help our students to be collaborative communicators, socially-aware agents of change, and critically-thinking digital citizens, our nonpartisan SD Unified for Democracy project offers resources to develop skills to engage in civil discourse, identify bias and credibility, debate and maintain a focus on issues, and repair harm that arises from political rhetoric.
The link below offers resources and tools adults can use to engage with and learn alongside children and teens during the election cycle and beyond.
