Brentwood Special School District
September 2022 Edition
Dear Families,
Welcome to the 2022-2023 school year!
Thank you all for an amazing first few weeks of school. Students have settled in and appear to be enjoying their time at school. As I walk through the different learning spaces, I love seeing their eyes light up as they explore something new or master something that was previously a challenge.
Following my message, you will find a section called "Brentwood by the Numbers." Many of you may know that Special School District provides special education and related services to students who have been identified as having an educational disability and reside within Saint Louis County. It is our hope that the visuals below will provide a clearer understanding of who we serve in the Brentwood community and provide clarity on some of the terminology that is often used in meetings. The information below is a breakdown of the educational identifications of the students we serve here in Brentwood whether they attend Brentwood Schools or access services through SNAP (Special Non-Public Access Program). The last image shows the additional programs that SSD provides to the county as well.
I am happy to answer any questions you may have or to connect with you to discuss the needs of your student.

VIRTUAL LUNCH & LEARN SERIES FOR SSD FAMILIES AND STAKEHOLDERS
Special School District’s Family and Community Outreach, Social Work, Parent Education and Diversity Awareness (PEDA) and Communications departments have teamed up to offer a virtual Lunch & Learn series for SSD families and stakeholders.
Representatives from nine community organizations will participate in order to increase awareness about their agency and make connections with those in our SSD community who may benefit from their programs and services.
We will share updated dates and topics for the 22-23 school year when they become available.
