Did you know that since Terry Fox ran his Marathon of Hope in 1980 that over $900 million dollars has been raised in his name to fund innovative cancer research. St. Martin's is proud to participate and fundraise in order to help those among us that are living with cancer. Thank you for all of your support as a Catholic family!

This year’s campaign, called #NoMatterWhat celebrates Terry’s determination and persistence. When running his Marathon of Hope in 1980 he faced many challenges along the way, but he kept going – no matter the obstacles, no matter the journey, no matter the odds - NO MATTER WHAT. We know that schools coast to coast to coast will carry on his legacy to raise funds for cancer research and display their amazing “NoMatterWhat” efforts for this year’s Run.

At St. Martin's Catholic School, our dedicated teachers go above and beyond to provide a holistic education that nurtures the mind, body and spirits of our students. From Pre-K to Grade 6, our educators are passionate about ensuring that every child receives the tools they need to thrive.

A key aspect of our program is the emphasis on physical literacy through outdoor play. Teachers design activities that develop motor skills, coordination, and a love for physical activity, ensuring that students stay active and engaged in a fun and healthy way.

In the classroom, our educators provide individualized support to strengthen literacy and numeracy skills. One-on-one phonics assessments help identify each child’s learning needs, allowing our teachers to tailor instruction and guide students toward mastery in reading and language skills. Numeracy development is equally prioritized, with focused instruction to build a strong foundation in mathematics.

What truly sets St. Martin's apart, however, is the love and care our teachers bring to their classrooms. Every child is valued, supported, and encouraged to grow not only academically but also emotionally and spiritually. This nurturing environment helps create a sense of belonging and confidence in every student.

Attention parents of Grade 5 and 6 students! I will be kicking-off the first MHCB after-school club, Nature Photography, on Thursdays starting September 26th. Students will meet in the MHCB room after school, walk to Pysanka Park to take photos, then return to the school for a 4pm pick up. Your child will require a personal device (phone, ipad, tablet, etc) to participate.

How will this nature photography club promote positive mental health? By providing opportunities for:

• Mindfulness

• Creativity

• Appreciation

• Connection (socially and spiritually)

• and Healthy Movement

If you have a child who is interested in Nature Photography, please email me by 4 p.m on Tuesday, September 24th to receive your permission form.
