As we start the 2024-2025 school year, we are pleased to share that Layer is an "A" school! Our students work incredibly hard to achieve each day and their needs are met through our various learning structures! Our teachers and staff have been intentional with the planning so that we differentiate instruction, develop collaborative opportunities, and create positive classroom environments! We are grateful for everyone's support with this exciting announcement!

Please know Skyward is updating and schedules can be viewed on Friday, August 1. However, your teacher assignments will not be official until Wednesday, August 7.

Please join us for our Meet the Teacher Event for the 2024-2025 school year! We look forward to seeing our K-5, VPK, and PreK students and families during the 9:00a.m.-11:00a.m. window.

In addition to meeting your teacher, you can bring your school supplies, sign up for a membership with our Layer Elementary PTA, get your car signs (see below), speak with Red Apple Dining, chat with KidZone, meet our Crossing Guards, get bus information with Transportation, and more!

• If you plan to pick up your child(ren) through the car line, you must display a personalized car sign. Click the link below to register for your car signs.

• Car signs, 2 per family, will be printed and available for pick-up at Meet the Teacher. After that day, parents must show ID at the front desk to receive the signs.

Our District is committed to providing each student with the tools they need to succeed, including nutritious meals they can enjoy. We encourage SCPS families needing additional support to apply for benefits for the 2024-2025 school year.

If your child will need to take medication at school, please help us be prepared for the first day! The attached form will need to be completed (one per over the counter or prescription medication) and brought with the medicine (in the box/bottle with the prescription label) by the parent in person. Ms. Rea (our clinic assistant), will be at the front office on Friday, August 9 for you to drop items off.

Seminole County Public Schools will utilize the My Ride K-12 (Ride360) App for the 2024-2025 school year. This website and mobile app will allow families and students to look up bus route information and receive real-time notifications and alerts. For more information, please visit: www.scps.us/buses

The transportation department will also have representatives available at Meet the Teacher on August 9.

-Mrs. Grubbs asks that you please bring supplies for your student's grade level from the SCPS Elementary K-5 list.

For the 2024-2025 school year, the Parental Authorization for Deviation from Student’s Legal Name Form, as well as the SCPS Code of Conduct can be found in the parent/guardian account of Skyward Family Access.

Without the signed name deviation consent form from parent/guardian, staff are required to use only the legal name of the student as listed in Skyward. If you have previously completed and submitted the Parental Authorization for Name Deviation Form, and there are no modifications to the information provided since last year, there is no need to resubmit the form. Your previous authorization and parental consent will remain valid for the current academic year.

Our friends over at Culver's of Casselberry are trying to "Stuff the Bus" with school supplies, which will be distributed to schools around Seminole County, including Layer! Let's help them meet their goal! Anyone who donates 3 or more unopened school supples between now and August 4 will receive a coupon for a free scoop of delicious custard! What's better than helping the community and eating ice cream?!

The Dividends School Volunteer Program is a district-wide effort that encourages and promotes community involvement in the Seminole County Public Schools. You must be a registered Dividend to volunteer during school events or chaperone any field trip.

Layer is proud to be a PBIS (Positive Behavior Interventions and Support) School! We expect all students to follow our PRIDE expectations so we can keep our school a happy and safe place for all students.

We appreciate family support as we link all behavior choices to our expectations across our campus with our continued Lucky Bucks and our consistent Behavior Alert system. Layer follows a Hierarchy of Consequences in every classroom which can be viewed HERE.

HERE is the Seminole County Public Schools Student Code of Conduct. These are the expectations that all students follow to keep our school happy and safe.

HERE is the Seminole County Public Schools Dress Code. We ask that all students have appropriate clothing and safe shoes to play outside in each day. No flip-flops please!
