Reading Olympics
Congratulations to South’s three Reading Olympics teams for doing an amazing job at Tuesday night’s competition, bringing home two blue ribbons and one green ribbon, with our teams having the second and third highest scores of the entire evening. We are very proud of the students’ year-long preparation and efforts. A special shout to Alex DiPasquo and Luke Kempf for reading all 25 books. Great job everyone!

Orchestra's Kimmel Center Field Trip
The South String Ensemble headed to the Kimmel Center on Thursday to see an open rehearsal of the Philadelphia Orchestra. The students took in the breathtaking surroundings of the hall, which set the stage for top-tier performances of an intriguing newer work and a gorgeous cello concerto. At intermission, our students had the opportunity to meet one of the orchestra’s cellists, Mr. Harlow, who has been a dedicated member for an incredible 49 years! The students asked him thoughtful questions, and were inspired by his stories and passion for music. The group topped off the day with lunch at Reading Terminal Market- yum! It was a fun and memorable trip!
Autism Walk
Spring is right around the corner and the autistic support classroom (room 109) is getting excited about our Autism Walk! Remember - if a student has purchased a t-shirt, it will be their ticket for the Autism Walk on Friday, April 11th, 11th period. For students who have not purchased a shirt, they may still join the walk by making a $1 donation. Please join us for Autism Awareness Week by showing your support each day!
