❄️ As we embrace the winter season, our learning is heating up! Get ready to dive into some fun activities and important lessons that will keep our minds sharp and our spirits bright! Let’s take a look at what we accomplished last week and what’s coming up next!
Next week
Phonics: We will participate in shared reading, where students will identify, blend, and spell words with the /ûr/ sound. Plus, we’ll learn some new high-frequency words! Here are our spelling words for the week:

Reading: We will wrap up our unit on "Observing the Sky." Students will learn to describe the connections between events in informational texts, synthesize information to create new understandings, and identify how text features contribute to an author’s purpose. We’ll also focus on identifying words with affixes -s and -ed.
Math: We will complete Topic 7 and begin Topic 8, which focuses on the concept of tens and ones. This is a key foundation of the base-10 number system and will strengthen your child’s understanding of the place-value system, essential for 2-digit addition and subtraction.
Writing: Your child has been working on an "All About" book, choosing an animal to research both in class and at home. This week, they will also be researching a "How to _" topic related to their animal. For example, they might write "How to Catch a Frog." They should also send in a picture of themselves by March 17th that fits on letter-sized paper, leaving room for them to write below it.

Please encourage your child to continue their research at home for their "All About" book and "How to" project.
