A few weeks ago our Media Center was transformed into a filming studio while 8 of our classes were recorded separately saying the Pledge of Allegiance. Atlanta News First will be airing these segments on their morning news show. They have been recording at schools across the Metro Atlanta area and Pledge videos began airing Monday, Nov. 11 for local schools. Congratulations to our October Bus Rider of the Month Winners. The following students were selected by their bus drivers for their excellent behavior on the bus. We are so proud of them!

I wanted to let you know that a couple of weeks ago, our part-time PE teacher, Staci Kelly, resigned due to health issues. We are sad to see her go, and we wish her the best.

We have been fortunate to find a replacement in a former Wilson Creek teacher who was eager to return to this amazing school. Jessica Black was a beloved classroom teacher at WCES from 2015-2020. After stepping away from teaching for a few years, Mrs. Black discovered a passion for teaching PE. We are happy to welcome Mrs. Black back to the Wilson Creek family in this new capacity. Her first day will be December 2nd. Thank you for your understanding and support during this transition.

Each year we are asked, “How do I prepare my child for the Georgia Milestones?” This year we are once again offering the opportunity to purchase a grade-specific practice book which provides comprehensive instruction and practice on all the key skills and concepts covered by the Georgia Standards. Student workbooks along with access to online answer keys are available for Grades 3-5 in Reading/ELA and Math. Science is available for Grade 5 only. The cost is $17 per book. We are only accepting Online School Payment (OSP), no checks or cash. No additional or late orders will be accepted as this is a courtesy one-time order for parents.

Please note:

• All orders must be placed through the Online School Payment (OSP) beginning today, November 12 through December 5. No additional or late orders will be accepted, so please tell your friends and neighbors to help spread the word.
• Access the OSP link through the Wilson Creek Elementary School website homepage. You will find it on the left hand side under the picture logo or by clicking here: Measuring Up Books
• Student ID # is required to make payments through OSP. This is the same number and your student’s lunch account.
• Once in OSP you will see the title Measuring Up. You will need to click the drop down for the grade and subject.
• Please be sure to select the drop-down option for the grade level and subject of the book you wish to purchase. All students take the GMAS for the grade they are currently in, regardless of Continuous Achievement Levels. (for example, all 3rd graders that the 3rd grade GMAS and the 3rd grade math even if they are studying 4th grade in class).
• The school will not order any extra books, so please be careful to select the books you want. There will not be an opportunity to purchase at a later date.

We're excited to announce our upcoming STEM Day on February 7th, and we need your help! To make our hands-on projects a success, we’re asking families to send in the following recyclable materials:

• Thin cardboard (cereal boxes, tissue boxes, etc.)
• Paper towel tubes

All donations can be dropped off in front of the Media Center. Your donations will help our students engage in creative, eco-friendly STEM activities! Thank you for your support!

As part of PTO Membership, families who are members will receive the first opportunity to volunteer at the upcoming Winter Parties in December. After a 3-day period, the volunteer slots will be open to non-members. The PTO will release volunteer sign-ups next week so join now so you'll be the first to know.

Please take a few minutes to take the Annual Parent Perception Survey for Wilson Creek ES. The county monitors this data and provides feedback to the individual schools. We need to have a good percentage of parents respond for our data to be valid...and we do want to know what you think. Please note that only a rating of 9 or 10 is considered to be promoting the school. If you love Wilson Creek, please give us a 9 or 10 on the rating scale!

The survey is anonymous and confidential. Please complete one survey per school where you have one or more students enrolled. The survey will remain open from Wednesday, October 16 through Friday, November 22.

Students in grades 3-12 will be provided with the opportunity to take the Annual Student Perception Survey between November 11-November 22 during the school day.
