Library Lesson Highlights
Several grade levels have started coming for weekly or biweekly lessons in the library. See what your child's class has been doing!
- Prekindergarten: We have learned about how to take care of library books and how to be kind at school when reading The Invisible Boy , Manners in the Library, and Crazy Hair Day .
- Kindergarten: We have learned how to take care of library books when reading Read It, Don't Eat It! and have reviewed what authors and illustrators do. We have also made connections between a story and our own experiences when reading Lola at the Library.
- First Grade: We learned how to take care of books and how to keep going when things go wrong when reading The Perfectly Messed-Up Story. We also learned about story structure, discussing the setting, characters, problem, and solution in fiction stories. First graders also learned about using the Five-Finger Rule to help choose a just-right book when reading Goldisocks and the Three Libearians.
- Third Grade: We learned how to use the online Destiny library catalog to search for books. Third graders also worked on using a call number to help locate a book in the library. We learned how to log into Destiny to read electronic books as well as learning how to log into JLG Digital to read more digital books. Both types of books are accessible from home.
