Outdoor School Information for 5th Grade Families

Our 5th Grade Outdoor School three-day trip is scheduled for May 20 - 22, 2025.

We invite families to attend one of the following mandatory informational meetings:

• Tuesday, January 28, at 6:30 PM

• Mabel Rush Library
  

• Thursday, January 30, at 6:30 PM

• Online (link will be provided)
  

For families new to Outdoor School, the in-person meeting is recommended. Packing lists will be available in both print and online formats.

We wanted to remind you about the upcoming Immunization Exclusion Day, set for February 19, 2025. This date is a statewide deadline for students to have up-to-date immunization records or valid exemptions on file to continue attending school.

If you have not heard from us, there is no need to worry—your child’s records are complete, and no further action is required.

For those of you who have been working to provide the necessary immunization documentation, we truly appreciate your efforts. Please ensure all information is submitted to us by the deadline to avoid any disruptions to your child’s attendance.

The Annual Notice for Statewide Tests is published by ODE at the beginning of each school year. This notice informs parents of state testing requirements, why participation matters and parent and adult student rights regarding state testing. These copies are provided for reference:

Scholarship/Financial Aid

Scholarships and financial aid are available for all of our activities. An application form is linked below and copies can be found in our school office. Please contact office staff if you need assistance. .

Safety is our top priority! We kindly ask all families to ensure their emergency contact information is current and accurate in the Synergy Student Information System. In case of unexpected events, having the correct details allows us to reach you quickly and effectively, and in the event we can not reach you, makes sure that we have the names and contacts of your emergency contacts.

Please also be sure your emergency contacts (those that we can release your child to in the event of an emergency.) is also up to date.

Here’s how to update your information in Synergy:

1. Log into the Synergy ParentVUE portal using your credentials.

2. Click on the “Student Information” tab.

3. Select the “Edit” button next to the Emergency Contact section.

4. Review your listed contacts and make updates as necessary.

5. Save your changes to ensure the information is updated.

📚 Book of the Week: “Coretta Scott” 🌟

This week’s featured book in our Little Free Library is “Coretta Scott” by Ntozake Shange and illustrated by Kadir Nelson. 🎨✨ This beautifully written and illustrated biography celebrates the life of Coretta Scott King, a courageous leader, civil rights activist, and advocate for justice and equality.

Stop by our Little Free Library, located on the southeast corner of the building, to borrow this inspiring story and learn more about her legacy. 💛

Description for the Flyers:

Father Daughter Dance/ Baile Para Los Padres Y Las Hijas Bogados

The event is a family gathering on Saturday, February 22, from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM, at the Chehalem Armory, 620 N. Morton St., Newberg, OR. Tickets cost $49 per person and must be purchased in advance—no sales at the door. Financial aid is available through cprdnewberg.org.

The evening includes a fully catered dinner, music by DJ Dan, and a professional photography session. Each family will receive a 4x6 photo portrait mailed to them, and a live stream of event photos will be available for distant family members. Additional photo orders will also be possible. The event invites all families, regardless of gender or age, to enjoy a magical evening of dining and dancing. Register by calling 503.537.2909 or visiting cprdnewberg.org.

P.I.E. is the short name for our family/teacher group "Partners in Education". PIE supports our school in many ways, including with their annual auction and with our Lion Walk jog-a-Thon fundraiser. They help fund our Resource Room and provide teachers with additional classroom resources.

Our next PIE meeting is set for Tuesday, February 4, 2025 - 6:00 pm in the school library. An online option will be available.:
