Drills or Called Lockdowns (students practice drills every month)
Soft Lockdowns: Potential threat nearby (neighborhood, community area...)
No one is allowed indoors or to exit the building. The school continues to run as normal.
Hard Lockdown: A hard lockdown, is a security measure that occurs when there is an imminent threat. During a hard lockdown, students are in a secured location, locked doors, and no one is near a window or door.
Evacuations: Quickly leaving the building and moving far away from it. At home, you can remind your scholars to be quiet and move quickly when the fire drill alarm sounds.
Campus Safety Monitor
We have a full-time campus monitor at Flippen. Mr. Hollis conducts checks of all doors, windows walks the campus and outdoors throughout the day. We are thankful to have Mr. Hollis at Flippen.
Chromebooks
Students who have lost or broken Chromebooks (didn't report or turn them into Flippen) will not receive loaners. We reserve loaner laptops for ones that are out for repair. Parents, help your students locate their Chromebooks and turn broken ones in the school. Scholars need their Chromebooks for assessments and access to iReady and Epic Library.

Personalized Learning in Reading and Math
Students can partake in their personalized instructional lessons, but we encourage you not to exceed 30 minutes per night (15-20 minutes for reading and 15 minutes for math). Don't overwhelm students and exceed this time frame. They work on their lessons in school daily.
Students need headphones. They're nothing fancy, and you can buy them from the Dollar Store, Walmart, or Five Below. The headphones allow students to listen to their lessons privately, through guided instruction. If you have extras to supply, please send them. We will certainly use them.

Attendance Matters
Instruction Begins at 7:35 a.m.
Parents,
Attendance, especially punctuality, plays a crucial role in the learning process. When students are absent or late, they miss out on valuable instruction, which can lead to unpreparedness and stress.
Please work diligently to get your scholar to school daily and on time. In addition, ensure they have all their required tools—a bookbag, lunch, and materials needed for learning.
School Safety Drills
Safety drills will begin this week. Students will practice how to respond to evacuations, severe weather and soft and hard lockdowns.
Discuss with your child how important drills are and ask them about the procedures. Learning how to keep safe is essential for everyone.
Remember, no visitor is allowed entry to the building during drills.
