Mental Health Careers in Rural Minnesota
"While in metropolitan areas there is one licensed mental health provider for every 197 residents, that ratio goes up as the population density goes down, with 741 residents for every one provider in the most rural areas."

SCRUBS Camp
SCRUBS Camp is an opportunity for high school students to explore health science professions through engaging hands-on activities. Students will visit higher education institutions to explore medical and healthcare education programs, observe operations at regional clinics and hospitals, and interact with diverse healthcare professionals. They will have opportunities to learn directly from mental health practitioners, emergency medical service providers, and professional caregivers. These immersive sessions will give campers firsthand exposure to different aspects of healthcare and medical careers.
SCRUBS Camp 2025 will be held in Mankato on June 10, 11, and 12.

Mayo Health System Career Exploration Opportunities
The Virtual Career Tours introduces students to Mayo Clinic professionals in their work environment without leaving the classroom or home. Each virtual career tour video is 25-minutes in length. Find out what a typical day is like, see advanced technology in action and learn what it takes to become a health care professional. In addition, students have the opportunity to connect LIVE for 15 minutes with a professional to ask additional career questions!
Mayo's Career Immersion Program
Discover what a career in healthcare looks like and get an exclusive inside look at a wide range of healthcare careers. The Career Immersion Program, offered June 22-26, 2025, will pull back the curtain and share insights and information about several careers most students don’t even know exist.
Applications are taken from current sophomores and juniors (2024-2025 academic year). Mayo Clinic School of Health Sciences especially encourages applications from students who belong to any of the following groups:
- Future first-generation college students or students enrolled in TRIO, Upward Bound, and College Possible
- Black or African-American
- Hispanic or Latino
- American Indian or Alaska Native
- Native Hawaiian or U.S. Pacific Islander
Applications are accepted each year from Jan. 1 through March 15. Your application and all supporting documentation must be submitted and received by Mayo Clinic School of Health Sciences by 11:59 p.m. CT on March 15.

Minnesota Paramedic Scholarship
The Minnesota Paramedic Scholarship is a temporary scholarship program for Minnesota residents completing a paramedic diploma or degree.
Eligible students are Minnesota residents attending an eligible paramedic program. Students must be taking paramedic program courses to receive the scholarship.

Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA)
Colleges and career schools use the FAFSA form to determine how much financial aid you're eligible to receive, which could include grants, scholarships, work-study funds, and loans.
FREE Ready Set FAFSA! Virtual Events
Join Minnesota Goes to College in January 2025 for a series of zoom sessions created specifically for students and families to help them prepare for the financial aid process.
All sessions will be on Tuesday evenings and approximately one hour long with a short presentation from college and financial aid experts.
Interpreters will be available in Spanish, Hmong, Somali.
Students who attend or watch the recordings of Ready Set FAFSA sessions will be entered into a drawing to win a scholarship!
NEW! Recordings are also available with Hmong, Spanish, and Somali interpretation options.
