Dragon Digest- Family Edition
2024-2025 November 2024
A Message from DOES Administration
Dear Parents and Families,
We are looking forward to a more normal hurricane free month in November. We were very fortunate again as a community; the flooding is subsiding in our neighborhoods and we have power and internet stored in all neighborhoods. We still have alot of flooding at school in the back fields and are unable to use more than half of our recess areas. Due to that, we have relocated recess closer to the school and near the picnic tables. There is NO LUNCH with your child until further notice- hopefully we will be back to normal in the next few weeks. I will make a phone call when we able to have families join us for lunch again.
We want to thank PALM CITY CHURCH for their day of service on October 13th. They had over 60 people to our school and work tirelessly to clean up from Hurricane Milton. They made our school usable or our students to return to campus and have safe places to play. Also I want to thank our hard working custodial crew, and our staff (and their families) who also came up to work on the yard for three days. We have a long way to go out back but we are making progress :)
We kindly request your cooperation in ensuring a smooth and fair carline process for everyone. Please refrain from parking on or cutting into the carline from Laurel Ridge Drive. This practice is not considerate to those who have been waiting on Oak Grove to pick up their children.
To maintain order and fairness, all cars should join the carline on Oak Grove and avoid jumping in from side streets. Your understanding and cooperation are greatly appreciated in making the pickup process efficient and respectful for all.
If you need to change your child's dismissal OR need to pick them up early- this must be done BY 3:15pm. The only exception is if your child is sick in the clinic and the nurse asks you to come get them. Our carline is already backed up by this time and there is no way for cars to get in the gate. Please be polite to our crossing guards, custodians and office staff when speaking with them. We have had many incidents with parents this week that were unsettling and unsafe in the parking lot. You may NOT enter through the one unlocked entrance by our crossing guard once the carline is past that point. Parents CAN NOT drive down the outgoing lane to get into our school- this is unsafe and illegal. I need you to be patient and plan ahead when you need to pick up your child early. Our rules are not to inconvenience you but to keep everyone safe.
Reinforcing School Rules at Home We ask for your support in reinforcing our school rules at home. Our core values are:
- Be Respectful
- Be Responsible
- Be Safe
Reading at Home Reading at home every night is essential. It helps increase stamina, fluency, and comprehension. Please make reading a priority in your household.

If you would like to be part of this important committee, please email Mrs. Wisneski at kwisnesk@pasco.k12.fl.us by September 6th. The first meeting is on September 19th in the media center. DOES Expectations
Have a question or concern with your child? Email your child's teacher on myStudent.
If you have questions or classroom concerns, please use myStudent to email your child's teacher before calling the front office. The teachers are with your child all day and can help you more quickly than the front office staff who are not in the classroom. Your child's teacher is your first point of contact prior to contacting the school administration. We are here to help but will always direct you back to the teacher first. We know parent emotions can run high when there are concerns, please always be respectful and calm with our staff when calling or emailing. We have had many of our staff getting yelled at when they are trying to help- this is not acceptable. Our classroom and special area teachers are amazing and are more than willing to answer any questions or concerns you have- they want your child to have the best learning adventure this year.
Student Code of Conduct
Our goal is to work together to provide a quality education and safe environment for all students. We know that providing a safe and secure learning environment for our students is essential to student
learning. Therefore, it is important that parents and/or guardians read and discuss the Code of Student Conduct with their children. We need your support to teach and reinforce the student rules of conduct.
