The grading tab will reopen on Thursday, June 6th at 4:00 pm at which time you will be able to access your child’s report card via the parent portal in Infinite Campus. Please note that when reviewing your student’s report card, teacher comments do not show up in the portal when looking at the main Grades screen. They do, however, if you access the Reports screen. Sunscreen Policy: Just a reminder that it is the District's guideline that we do not provide or allow students to share or use another person's sunscreen, lip balm, lotion, etc., due to the potential for an allergic reaction to the active ingredients in these products. With the warm sunny days forecasted ahead, parents are encouraged to apply sunscreens at home prior to sending their child to school.

Counselor's Corner with Mr. Biolo
We are one week closer to the end of the school year. Students are getting excited about summer and some are even starting to think about next year. I am continuing to teach life skills that will come in handy for them moving into the future.
Here is a rundown of what your child is learning this week in Life Skills:
5K
This week in Life Skills, 5K students had the wrinkled heart lesson. In this lesson, I make a paper cut out of a heart. We then had a discussion about how hurtful words can be when someone is being unkind. I asked each student to give an example of unkind words that someone has said to them, and I put a fold in the heart for each example. At the end, we unfolded the heart to see all the wrinkles in it. I then shared this poem/message “Before you speak, think and be smart. It's hard to fix a wrinkled heart”. We glued this poem onto each classroom's heart so that we could hang it up and remember the lesson.
1st Grade
During this week's Life Skills lesson, we were using the Childrens Wisconsin, Healthy Minds online curriculum. I showed some short, fun clips and we talked about what a healthy mind is. We talked about how we all have big feelings from time to time and we looked at ways that we can talk to adults to help us handle those feelings.
2nd Grade
This week in Life Skills, 2nd graders were learning the lesson I call “Sticks and Stones”. In this lesson we learned that there are some behaviors people might do to us that could physically hurt us or potentially cause harm. These are the things that we should talk with a trusted adult about. We also learned that sometimes people use unkind words toward us, but we don’t have to let those words hurt us. Instead we can learn how to handle those words by ignoring them, helping kids to be more resilient.
3rd Grade
In our lesson this week we discussed how gossip and rumors can start and spread. We discussed how gossip and rumors can hurt our relationships and learned some ways to keep ourselves out of being part of it. Once we finished our discussion, we played a game we call “broken telephone”. This game shows the kids in real time how gossip and rumors spread and change the longer they last. This lesson is definitely a student favorite!
4th Grade
Since 5th grade is right around the corner, this week we explored the concepts of having a growth mindset vs a fixed mindset. By showing various examples of each and talking as a class, we are learning that working hard and overcoming obstacles in our way is a far better road to success than not trying or quitting too early. We are learning that life can be challenging, but the way we think about those challenges can really help us as we work toward our goals.
As always, please contact me at cbiolo@kimberly.k12.wi.us if you have any questions.

Medication Pick-up
Please see the letter from our school nurses regarding prescriptions and over the counter medication pick up at the end of this school year.
Class Placement
As this school year comes to a close, thoughts turn to the summer and the upcoming school year. One thought students wonder about is their classroom assignments for the next year. We will continue our efforts to maximize the learning potential of each student by balancing student/teacher ratios, maintaining gender balance, grouping students heterogeneously, and avoiding potential student conflicts as we assign students to classes. Parents will be notified of their child’s classroom assignment by the first week of August. We ask that you do not request a specific teacher. We thank you in advance for your understanding and cooperation so that we can make classroom assignments with the most current enrollment numbers possible before the start of the school year.
