Ludwig Ledger
September 2024
Dear Ludwig Families,
It's been a busy start to the school year here at Ludwig School! Students have spent the first days of school getting to know their peers and teachers, learning their schedules and the building-wide expectations, participating in safety drills, and completing our beginning of the year FastBridge benchmarking. We appreciate all of our families helping us get off to a great start!
It was nice to see so many families attend our Supply Drop Off event and our Open House/Curriculum Night. Our staff appreciates every opportunity to connect with our families and share information about your child’s experience at school. As the year progresses, please don’t hesitate to reach out to your child’s teacher, should questions arise at home.
Please take a moment to review the information in each monthly edition of the Ludwig Ledger, as there will most certainly be something for everyone! On behalf of all the staff and teachers at Ludwig, we’re looking forward to a wonderful school year!
Sincerely,
Mr. Kulik

5th Grade Beginning Band Sign Up Night (9/3)
On Monday, August 26th and Friday, August 30th, all 5th grade students had the opportunity to try out various different band instruments at Ludwig School. They should have brought home an informational sheet and a "golden ticket" letting us know if they are interested in being a part of the band, and what instrument they might like to play. This helps us organize our sign up night, but does not automatically sign them up for band.
Ludwig's beginning band sign-up night is on Tuesday, September 3 from 5-8 PM. For those families interested in signing their child up for band, please sign up for an approximate time slot here. At this parent meeting, you can ask Mrs. Nommensen or Mrs. Danley any questions you may still have about band. Our music store representatives from Quinlan and Fabish will also be present. They will help you rent an instrument, if you need it. Approximate rental costs can be found on their webpage (QandF.com) or by clicking the "Ludwig Band FAQs" link below.
Exact details of all other costs and rehearsal commitments can be found on our FAQs page as well.

Please let us know if you have any other questions by emailing Mrs. Danley (adanley@d92.org) and/or Mrs. Nommensen (dnommensen@d92.org).

Friendly Reminders from the Nurse's Office
- All medications, prescription and OTC, need to be dropped off and picked up by parents. (This does not apply if your child has a self carry form for epipens or inhalers.)
-If your child needs to take cough drops while they're at school, they need to have a note from a parent and the cough drops need to be kept in the nurse's office.
- If your student self carries their inhaler, please complete, sign, and submit a Self Carry Medication Authorization Form and return it to Nurse Roxanne.
- If a student is feeling ill at school, teachers will send them to the nurse's office to be evaluated. If it's necessary for a child to go home, the nurse will contact parents/guardians via the phone number(s) we have on-file in PowerSchool.
Let's have a safe and healthy school year!

Family Resource Inquiry
Will County School District has many opportunities each year for families who may need additional support during difficult times. Resources that may become available through school district programs and the local community can be found on the Family Resource Inquiry Google Form. If you feel your family would be able to benefit if these resources become available, please select which ones you may be interested in. This is not a guarantee of receiving these supports, however, it notifies our social workers of families that are open to receiving.
Please note that your interest in these resources will be kept confidential and will only be shared with the school social worker. If you would like to request a paper copy of this form please reach out to the school office at 815-838-8020, to be transferred to our school social worker Ms. Grahovec.
