School Wide Information
CAASP Testing Starts this Monday at 8:30am- Each spring, students in grades 3-8 and 11 participate in the California Assessment of Student Performance and Progress (CAASPP) to provide information about their skills in English-language arts/literacy (ELA), mathematics, and science. These computer-based assessments reflect California’s rigorous academic standards, and measure students’ ability to write clearly, think critically, and solve problems—skills needed for success in college or career. IPSF Summer Programs- IPSF will be offering over 400 exciting and educational classes for student. Be sure to create or update your account information on the enrollment site so you will be ready to register for classes on March 22. https://ipsf.net/classes-camps/summer/
Summer College Program- Irvine Valley College and IUSD are excited to provide the IVC/IUSD Summer College program for summer 2023 at IVC. Made possible through funding from the City of Irvine's Measure BB, the program will run from June 5 to July 21, 2023. Current IUSD students in grades 9 through 11 and incoming 9th graders in the 2022–23 school year attending Creekside, Irvine, IVA, Northwood, Portola, San Joaquin, University, and Woodbridge high schools will be given an exclusive first-come, first-served opportunity to enroll in any of the following CSU- and UC- transferable general education classes. National History Day Award Winners- Irvine Virtual Academy Middle School students Frankie Holland and Vincent Hacker are National History Day-Orange County champions after receiving medals at the March 13 awards ceremony at the Orange County Department of Education. This year’s National History Day theme is Frontiers in History: People, Places, Ideas. Eighth grader Frankie received the award for building her website, A Breath of Fresh Air: How California Became the Birthplace of Frontiers in Clean Air, and seventh grader Vincent received his award for his historical research paper, Beringia: The Lost Frontier. Good luck to both students as they advance to compete in NHD-CA at the state level!

Parent Presentation- IUSD, in collaboration with OCDE, will be providing zoom presentations throughout the spring. They will cover topics and challenges that students and families face in relation to school-based mental health. Join us in the discussion! Calm and Connected Workshop- Parents will explore different attachment styles, discover strategies to promote a secure attachment and build connections with their child and or teen. Parents and caregivers will also learn that self-compassion is an essential parenting tool to building connections. Both in-person and virtual options offered. Multicultural Night- We will be hosting an IVA Multicultural Night on Friday, March 24 from 5:00-7:00PM at Creekside Education Center. Join us for a night of learning about different cultures that represent our students by visiting booths, playing games, and watching cultural performances.
Sign up to get involved by signing up for a booth or participating in the cultural talent show. If you would like to participate, submit your Interest Google Form by Monday, March 6. If you have any questions, you can send an email to Brianna Nguyen, IVA Activities Director at briannanguyen@iusd.org.
Abilities Awareness Event and Community Resource Fair- Join us April 26th from 5:00 pm - 7:30 pm at Northwood High School. This event is intended to bring all of us together including community resources that support inclusive practices in Irvine to celebrate, connect, and inform. Additionally, the event will include music, performances, an art gallery, and more. Food will be available for purchase via food trucks.

IUCPTA Scholarship- The scholarship will go to graduating seniors and will be used towards continued education after graduation. Recipients must attend an accredited college/university, community college, trade or technical school within the first year following high school graduation.Qualifications: This scholarship recognizes students who are PTSA members and whom have performed service activities inside and outside of school.

Trimester Grades- Parent portal is now open for parents and students to view grades. Parents will log on to their portal account at https://my.iusd.org
