GME Wednesday Weekly!

WOW! We have had a great start to our new school year! We have welcomed over 450 children this past week! The classrooms are beautiful and full of learning opportunities! Teachers worked ever-so hard preparing for your children! Please reach out to your child's teacher if you need anything! They are the best point of contact if you have questions or concerns regarding your child! Thank you for choosing GME and entrusting your children to us! We are your partners in providing a top-notch education for your children! We are in this together! Together is better! Please make sure you have established your FOCUS parent portal account! Once you have created an account, you can update information for your child, complete the Back to School packet of information and so much more!

Thank you for your continued patience as we move over 200 cars through our carline in the morning and the afternoon! Please be courteous to our Westwood neighbors as you wait in the carline by leaving driveways open for our neighbors to get in and out while waiting in the line! We appreciate your support! Walk-Up Pick-Up is available at the PERGOLA by parking at the BENGALS park and walking up to get your child! Please communicate your dismissal plans with your child's teacher prior to changing it! And, one last reminder to please DRIVE SLOWLY on school property. SAFETY is our number one priority! Thank YOU! Thank YOU! Thank YOU!

Please plan to attend our OPEN HOUSE on THURSDAY, August 29th from 5:30-6:30 PM! Bring your children and have them show you all around the school & their classroom community! Bring a FAMILY PHOTO to add to our FAMILY wall in the MAIN HALLWAY! Visit our PTO members, LSDMC chair, Resource Coordinator and PARTNERS who support our school! Sign up for after-school opportunities coming this FALL: Girl Scouts, Spanish, New Leaf Kitchen & Building Better Futures! We can't wait to see you!

Are you interested in serving on a school-based committee? We need parent representatives to serve on our Instructional Leadership Team which meets on the 1st & 3rd Mondays of the month from 3:45-4:45 PM. We also need parent representatives to serve on our Local School Decision Making Committee which meets on the 3rd Tuesday of the month from 4:00-5:00 PM! Please email Mrs. Ridley at ridleym@cpsboe.k12.oh.us if you are interested in either committee or if you have any questions prior to volunteering to serve!

We are seeking male family or community volunteers to assist in a monthly male mentor program for our 9-12 young men!

WHEN? 1st Friday of the month at GME from 12:15-1:00 with Assistant Principal Mr. Drakeford.

During these mentor sessions, we will eat lunch with the mentees! Discussions around mindfulness, our PBIS monthly virtue such as citizenship, respect, kindness, etc. and peer relationship building will be had! We will engage in recess with our young men while playing board games or sports.

Sessions will include the following and more:

• Team Building Activities
• School Community Service
• Field trip(s)
• Watching Sports Highlights
• Games with mentors/students
• Community Service Project
