August 30, 2024
Dr. V's Message
Hello Longhorn Families. As we complete our second whole week of school, here are a few updates and highlights.
While we celebrate our athletic teams' achievements, we want to acknowledge our inaugural Girls Flag Football team. RBV Flag Football won their first game in school history Monday, defeating University City 30-12. The Longhorns advance to 1-0 on the season and play next Tuesday at Mt. Carmel at 4:30.
We have updated our bell schedule. It is linked right here as well as in the section below.
New this year, students will not have access to the parking lot during the school day except for lunchtime with a lunch sticker. Please remind your students to plan when they leave their cars in the morning.
"Reading is Freedom!" We are having our first annual Lowriders and Literacy Expo. It will take place on Saturday, September 7, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The expo will be set up in the front parking lot near the main office and library. More information is linked below.
Don't miss out on the picture makeup day on September 4. Studio 94 will be in the PAC between 8:00am and 4:00pm, making it convenient for you to stop in before school, during a break, or after school. This will be your last chance to get an updated ID photo or to be in the yearbook.
Seniors and parents, please see the section below for YEARBOOK for information about Senior Pictures and Yearbook pages.
The RBV LASSO program's before- and after-school Library Learning Lab is opening on Tuesday, September 3rd. We are open an hour before school and two hours after school. In the mornings, there is an open study space or a space inside to wait for school to start. In the afternoons, we offer tutoring, group and individual study spaces, an after-school snack, and a space for you to relax before going home. We hope to see you soon!
We have a lot going on, including several opportunities to explore post-graduation options and prepare for college admission with the PSAT (Practice SAT). This, along with other campus highlights, is shared below.
Finally, we had our first PTSA meeting with over 15 people in attendance. This parent-led group plays an important role in supporting the work at our school for students and teachers. If you are interested in being involved, please reach out to the new PTSA president, Nichole Merrill, at rbvptsavc@gmail.com
Enjoy the long weekend. Happy Labor Day!
