The Siegrist Star
Week of September 2, 2024
A Great Start to PE with Important Social Skills!
We are excited to share that during the first week of PE, our students worked on introducing themselves with eye contact and a firm handshake! This important lesson helps them develop social skills and make a great first impression. It’s wonderful to see them practice these essential life skills with enthusiasm.
It's going to be a great year!

Professional Learning Days (PLD)
On Monday, September 16, school will not be in session for our first Professional Learning Community (PLC) day of the 2024-25 school year.
PLC days are designed to establish sustained and uninterrupted time for teachers to work together and collaborate to improve student learning and achievement. This time allows educators to examine and respond to the four basic fundamental questions of a Professional Learning Community:
- What is it we want students to learn?
- How will we know when each student has achieved the learning?
- How will we respond when a student is not learning?
- How will we respond when we know a child has mastered the learning?
For more information on PCR-3's Professional Learning Community, visit the PLC page on the District's website.
PCR-3 Tickets Go Digital
Starting this fall, all tickets for PCR-3 athletic events will be digital. Fans will purchase tickets online through GoFan or by presenting a card or mobile payment option at the ticket gate. All major credit cards are accepted, along with Apple Pay and Google Pay. Prices remain the same; a regular season game is $5 for adults and $3 for students. PCHS students and fans aged 55 and older are admitted free with a valid ID. Click here for a link to purchase all sports passes and individual tickets.

Recess Temperature
- The Platte County R-3 School District has established best practices regarding extremely high or low temperatures as these relate to outdoor and indoor recess.
The Guidelines:
Indoor Recess will be held when the temperature or heat index is above 95 degrees Fahrenheit
Indoor Recess will be held when the temperature or wind chill is below 20 degrees Fahrenheit
The Office will monitor recess temperatures using AccuWeather and will send an all-staff email if it is too hot or too cold to go outside for recess. If you have not received an email from us, you can assume you are good to go for consistency purposes.
Coming into Siegrist
Visitors to the building: you will always need to bring your ID with you when you come into the building. We will scan your ID into our safety system Platte County uses to ensure the safety and security of our students.
Lunch Visitors
In order for our staff to establish lunchroom processes with our students, the first day parents can attend lunch with students is September 9, 2024. There will be a sign up capping the number of adult visitors each day per grade level. Keep your eye out for that Sign Up.
Celebrations and Birthdays
We believe it is important for the school to recognize our students on their birthday and other special days. However, for several reasons including increased food allergies and preservation of the instructional day, students are not allowed to bring treats from home or have flowers/balloons or other items delivered to the classroom for birthdays, going-away parties, or other personal events. Each classroom teacher will recognize the student in a special way to celebrate his or her birthday.
If a student receives a delivery at school, the student will be notified to come to the office to view the item. Parents will be responsible for transporting the item home. Birthday party invitations may only be distributed if invitations are given to every student in the class.
Permanent Transportation Changes
QR Code is used only for permanent transportation changes.
If your are changing your child transportation on a permanent basis, please us the QR code below to fill out the form for transportation. After they are received your changes they will notify you and the school of the change and when it will start.
Treasure Chest Support
The PCR-3 Treasure Chest is a stocked resource center providing food, milk, and toiletries for PCR-3students and families in need. Qualifying families will receive a weekly form via email to sign up or can call 816-858-7001 for assistance.
Families will receive an email with approval to come to the Treasure Chest on Wednesdays from 4-6pm at the new Treasure Chest site (south side of Paxton building).
