Walled Lake Western High School Parent/Family Newsletter
June 6, 2025 - Last Issue of the School Year!
As we wrap up the 2024–2025 school year, I want to extend my sincere thanks to our students, families, and staff for making this an incredible year. I am truly grateful to be part of the Walled Lake Western community. Your support, dedication, and Warrior pride have made a lasting impact.
From the opening of our new academic wing to countless moments in classrooms where learning and engagement came to life, this year was filled with growth, achievement, and connection. Our students shined in academics, the arts, athletics, and beyond, representing Western with excellence in every arena.
We also celebrated a major milestone as the Class of 2025 graduated and set off to pursue their next chapters. We could not be prouder of all they have accomplished and all that lies ahead.
Wishing everyone a safe, restful, and enjoyable summer. I look forward to all that we will build together in the year to come.
Go Warriors,
Amy Pashak
Principal, Walled Lake Western

Summer Building Closure
Please note that the Walled Lake Western building will be closed from June 12 through August 14 for the completion of Phase 2 of our renovation project. We’re excited to continue improving our facilities to better serve our students and staff.
While the building will be closed, our office staff will remain available via email and phone during their regularly scheduled days and hours throughout the summer.
We appreciate your patience and flexibility as we complete this exciting next phase of improvements!
August Registration Information
In-person registration is required for all grade levels will take place on Thursday, August 14. Online registration must be completed prior to August 14th. During registration, students will have the opportunity to:
-
Walk the building, including newly renovated spaces
-
Get their school picture taken/receive their ID card
-
Receive information about clubs and activities
-
Sign up for Chromebooks and parking passes
If your student is unable to attend registration on August 14, school pictures will also be taken on the first day of school, August 25.
District Chromebooks
- We are NOT collecting Chromebooks for the summer. Anyone planning on returning to the district can keep their Chromebook for the summer. Linked in the document below is a “service request” form for any issues that arise over the summer.
- 25-26 Insurance is now available in eFunds for purchasing coverage. 24-25 Insurance coverage ends June 30, so there is not coverage in July without next year’s purchase.
- Students who know they are leaving the district or no longer want their device (forever) can turn in their Chromebook on June 10 after the 4th hour exam at the Learning Stairs. The deposit will be processed and returned to the family this summer. After June 11th, devices must be returned to the district I.T. office at the Educational Services Center.
- Devices will remain active and available for use throughout the summer.
Textbook & Materials Turn In
On Monday and Tuesday, students will be able to begin turning in materials that were checked out. This included textbooks and calculators. Please turn in all checked out materials to avoid fines on your account.
Summer Learning: AP, IB, and Reading for All
Students enrolled in AP or IB courses should be sure to review the Summer Homework page linked below. Several courses include required assignments that must be completed before the start of the school year.
Even if your student doesn’t have assigned coursework, we encourage all Warriors to keep reading over the summer. Whether it’s fiction or nonfiction, consistent reading helps maintain and strengthen important literacy skills.
For students looking to stay sharp in other subjects, Khan Academy offers free online resources and practice tools in a variety of content areas. It’s a great way to stay engaged and ready for the year ahead.
