KINDERGARTEN NEWS
The kindergarten classes have been enjoying the spring weather this marvelous May! Throughout spring, the students have been working on applying their sight word vocabulary and their phonetic skills to help them read fluently and write on their own. In math our focus has been on identifying 2-D flat shapes and 3-D solid figures and comparing their attributes. The children spent some time at the beginning of the month pouring their love into projects for Mother’s Day. This week the children were extra adorable. They brought in flowers, snacks, notes and cards to make the kindergarten teachers feel extra appreciated. Of course, we appreciate and thank you for sharing your little ones with us. Next week we are looking forward to our “Down on the Farm” field trip and stopping for a picnic lunch with parents at Lodestar Park. As the end of May approaches, we will continue to be very busy as we begin to wrap up our kindergarten journey.
FIRST GRADE NEWS
Students in first grade have been exploring "small" moments in their lives. They have been using these to write and illustrate their own personal narrative stories. They have enjoyed sharing about trips, holidays and other adventures.

FIFTH GRADE NEWS
5th grade students have started their Book Clubs reading unit. Book clubs engage students to be readers. They thrive on positive peer energy and challenge themselves to read more and discuss more about their books. In our 5th grade book clubs, students will be working together to make sense of text by using the skills they have learned throughout the year.
This week, students chose a book they were interested in reading and then created Book Clubs. Students will be focusing on creating a unique identity in their book club. They will create a club name, banners, flags, or mascots, and goals. Finally, students will get started reading in their clubs and discussing the novels as they read.
