Congratulations to all of our graduates! The Compass Academy staff hopes every student has the chance to relax and enjoy their summer break, taking advantage of this break to spend more time with loved ones, explore new and/or favorite places, pursue activities of interest, and engage in meaningful learning experiences away from the Compass classroom. This will be the last newsletter until August, but Mrs. Stanley is always available via email. Happy Summer Break! 🌞

Seniors:

Did you know your Google accounts will be deleted after you graduate? Graduating seniors' accounts will be deleted on July 26th.

The bad news: This means you will lose files in your drive, emails and their attachments, and other pieces of valuable data on July 26th. Yikes!

The good news: There is a way to preserve emails, files, data, etc.!

Google Takeout allows you to export needed data into a zip file to be kept on a personal device.

Google Transfer gives you the opportunity to transfer Drive files and emails to a personal Google account. (Most students will have too many files to do this option, so you must delete files you don’t want.)

It may still be winter, but it's the time of year when many colleges and universities have applications open for current high school students to learn on their campuses this summer. From STEM, to the arts, to athletics (and MORE!), the opportunities are many. While some schools have opportunities for all ages, students who will be juniors and seniors next year have many different opportunities to extend learning while experiencing a college campus this summer. An assortment of summer programs from colleges with links to more information are below:

Are you interested in learning about the various career options available in St. Charles? Through the city's career pathway job shadow program, Compass students can shadow people in many career fields, including office administration, communications, accounting, firefighting, government, law enforcement, construction, forestry, water management, and vehicle maintenance. Students who participate in job shadowing during the summer, and then write reflections about their experiences, have the opportunity to earn credit for Career Exploration.
