🐢 Learning about Terrapins 🐢
Did you know there are 7 subspecies of Diamondback Terrapins? Mr Page's art class has had several turtles since October. The turtles have been the inspiration for many a drawing this year. Although they may not be the biggest turtles in the school, they have probably had the most portraits done. This is our final month fostering the turtles! Keep an eye out for release pictures next month.
Mrs.Costello and Mrs. Randall's STEAM Class
This month in STEAM our third graders put their creativity to work by designing and constructing "Litter Bugs." Using recycled materials, they crafted colorful insects that serve as a reminder to keep our environment clean and litter-free. Our fourth-grade engineers put their knowledge of physics and structural engineering to the test with our annual Bridge Building Challenge. Working in teams, students designed and built bridges using just two pieces of paper. The winning fourth grade team from Mr. DeWitts class were Bobby Rapisardi and Adam Santo who designed a bridge that held 460 pennies! Our forensic scientists in fifth grade did a hands-on Blood Typing Lab. Through this interactive experiment, students learned about the different blood types and how they help solve crimes. In our sixth-grade Rover Design Challenge, students embraced the role of aerospace engineers as they designed and built model rovers. We had some special guests that visited our classroom on Bring Your Child To Work Day, Autumn and Kate
We have a special project Mr. Manzer's sixth-grade class is working on. One of our preschool teachers, Mrs. Minissale, recently welcomed a puppy named Yardley into her family. Yardley, named for his unique trait of having three paws, could benefit from a prosthetic paw to enhance his mobility and comfort. We are going through the engineer and design process to design him a prosthetic that we are 3D printing in class.
Mrs. Randall’s STEAM classes studied the science of light colors. They learned that the primary colors of light are green, red, and blue. When the colors mix, they create new colors!

From Mrs. Dreher's Music Room
The FPE chorus proudly sang the Star Spangled Banner to open the Lakewood BlueClaws game on Friday evening, April 19th! Our community stood together in our FPE green shirts to show our school spirit. The students especially enjoyed being able to sing right on the field in front of home base! We extend a huge thank you to everyone involved for supporting this event.
3rd grade general music students did a wonderful job displaying their recorder skills for friends and family on Friday, April 26th. Bravo on your first performance at FPE, and thank you to Mr. Denning for being our guest reader for The Doorbell Rang!
5th and 6th grade explored spring break rhythm building blocks using standard notation and modes. Major and minor ukulele chords were used to express happy and sad tones in their composed rhythms.

📣 News from our Student Government 📣
Thanks to our sneaker drive, the Student Council was able to raise $148 for our sixth grade trip! Even more importantly, we kept 266 pairs of shoes out of landfills. Thank you to everyone who donated! As our year starts to wrap up, student council will have one last meeting to celebrate our accomplishments this year. Thank you for your continued support!
Hola from Doña
This week we started Spanish with our teacher “Doña”. We learned how to use the word “tengo” to talk about the things that we have and don’t have. We also learned a few ways to greet each other en español.
Students Clean Up the Community
Frog Pond Road and the George Mitchell school are now cleaner thanks to some Frog Pond students! Thanks to the following students for cleaning up our community:
Reese Barchetto
Lainey Barchetto
Alyssa Reineke
Gabrielle Scibetta
Garren Maloney
Ava Reineke
Stella Holon
Arbor Day Winners
Once again the third graders at FPE participated in our annual Arbor Day poster contest. Each year the third grade classes learn about how important trees are for our environment and our community and participate in a poster contest. This year's poster contest theme was Tree are Important in all Shapes and Sizes. Thank you to all who participated, because of your hard work the Ocean County Shade Tree Commission donated a tree to our school. On Monday 4/30 the third grade classes gathered and the top three posters from each class were announced. The winners help to plant the tree that was donated.
Showing Kindness in Mrs. Boschetti's Room
I have a kindness chain going in the 5th grade hallway. There is an envelope on the wall that has blank hearts as well as a pencil. If anyone wants to write out a shoutout on a heart they can leave the filled out heart in the envelope and I will add it to the chain!
