The Eagle Beak-on
December 2nd, 2024
Mrs. Campbell's Notes
The month of December is full of anticipation and excitement here at school. We’re looking forward to so many meaningful moments that showcase the hard work and talents of our students. From the intensity of preparing for finals to the joy of holiday concerts, from the thrill of basketball games and wrestling meets to the celebration of achievements in and out of the classroom—this season has something for everyone.
As we eagerly await these events, it’s a great time to remind our students to stay focused, organized, and determined. Whether they’re wrapping up projects, studying for exams, or practicing for performances, their efforts now will pave the way for success and pride in their accomplishments.
This newsletter highlights the key dates and opportunities you won’t want to miss, along with tips for supporting your child during this busy season. Let’s embrace the excitement of December together and look ahead to a strong finish to the semester.
Thank you for your support and enthusiasm as we celebrate all that makes our school community great.

Parent/Teen Literacy Challenge!
We all want our teens to put their devices down and read more: Recall the benefits of reading from the November Newsletter. One of the best ways to inspire them to do so is to model what we expect and do it with them. Enter the Literacy Challenge: Read an interesting article with your teen and have a discussion!
Linked here, is a list of the 10 most-read articles from Your Teen for Parents. Granted it is from 2020 (and it does have annoying ads), but the articles are still relevant, interesting, and informational and can inspire great discussions with your teen.
So accept the challenge and read an article together!
And if you’re really up for a challenge, pick a book to read together over the holiday break and discuss it as you move through the chapters. Did you know that the Harry Potter series is in the top 3 bestselling books of all time–500 million copies?! If you’ve never read them, have your student check out the first book in the series from our library; then compare it to the movie after you’ve read it (the book is way better)!

CKH Focus Word for December: Responsibility
Do Your Part
This month, we’re challenging your students to reflect on their experiences and take RESPONSIBILITY for how they choose to learn and grow from these experiences. We are partnering with you to grow and develop your child’s sense of responsibility. As you reflect as a family, celebrate your accomplishments, identify areas you may want to improve, and consider new ways to serve others in the days ahead.
As parents, it’s our shared responsibility to prioritize school attendance. Students should only miss school when they are genuinely ill. With just two weeks of classes remaining before finals, it’s crucial that we provide them with a supportive environment to prepare effectively. Let’s encourage them to find the grit and motivation to stay focused and work hard through the end of the semester.
Together, we can help students develop good habits, such as putting down their phones and engaging in meaningful conversations. At school, we will continue to emphasize responsibility with both students and staff. We ask for your partnership in reinforcing this message at home.
Congratulations Mr. Hartley
