From The Principal
Dear Parents
Welcome to our final newsletter for this term as we move toward the mid-semester break. The school reports have all been completed and will be sent to you via email tomorrow. Please make sure that you are familiar with the grading system that is fully explained at the beginning of the report form. Thanks to all our teaching staff who have put the time into preparing these documents that hopefully give parents a clear idea of the progress made through the first semester.
Thanks to all involved with First Holy Communion here in the Parish and it was great to see many of the children come to the weekend masses last weekend to receive their certificates. We very much appreciate all the time and effort put in by the parish and school to support our children in their faith journey.
Our choir participated in the Sing-Fest workshop held at St Columbus South Perth. The combined concert held at 2.00pm is always fantastic and shows off the work achieved over the day.
I congratulate our Year Four Class who visited the elderly at Birralee last week. The interactive games and impromptu concert delighted the residents who have built up quite a rapport with our students over a couple of visits. Amy who is 103 years old was particularly taken with the children and received many hugs at the end of the day. The joy the children bring to these lovely people is palatable and a connection we hope to continue this year and in the years to come.
Last week we had a good role up to our parent information evening that provided parents with an insight into the programs and plans that we have established and planning for the future. Refreshments were enjoyed by us all at the conclusion of the meeting and it was lovely to see so many parents stay on for an informal chat. Thanks to all our teachers who presented and to Natasha Ogonowski for sharing information on the role of the School Board.
A number of our P&F and Board representatives have been busy dedicating many hours of work in the fields of communication, policy development and the establishment of various services for the school. I would personally like to thank, Marcia Pekin, Ciemone Rowbottam and Sam Cheesman for the wonderful work, often behind the scenes that they do for our whole school community. The Newsletter Format, School Website, Before and After school care, OT/Speech Therapy, Coffee Fridays and much more. We are fortunate to have people like this who support our programs through the great work they do with us. Our school Board and active P&F with our class representative are gold and the envy of many other schools!
We finish off the term with the Edu-dance performance that begins at 2.30pm on Friday. The hall will be open from 2.15pm to allow time for parents to find seating. There will be standing room at the rear and we will again have the performances videoed. Please keep in mind the viewing pathways for other members of the audience and refrain from personal filming etc.
Finally, I would like to wish Lucy Dutton and Molly Pekin all the best as they begin next term in their new schools. I thank the girls and their families for all they have done for Holy Spirit and wish them all the very best for the future.
Have an enjoyable break and I look forward to a catch up again for term three on Tuesday 23rd July.
Kind Regards,
Steve Versteegen
Principal
