News from the Principal
Fall is officially here with cooler weather and a pallet of autumn colors on all of the trees on campus. It has been a beautiful fall! It also brings the opportunity to reflect on where we started and where we have gotten with each of our students in regard to their education.
We are excited to announce that our annual parent-teacher conferences will be held on November 12th, 13th, and 14th. This is a valuable opportunity for you to engage with your child's teachers, discuss their progress, and strengthen the home-school connection. During these conferences, our dedicated educators will provide insights into your child's academic performance, social development, and overall classroom experience. You will have the chance to ask questions, share concerns, and collaborate on strategies to support your child's learning journey. Parent-teacher conferences serve as an invaluable opportunity to foster a strong partnership between families and educators. Here are some tips to help you make the most out of these important discussions: 1) Prepare: Take some time before the conference to reflect on your child’s progress, noting any concerns or questions you may have. Jot down specific points you wish to discuss with the teacher. 2) Be Open-Minded: Approach the conference with an open mind, ready to listen and learn about your child’s academic strengths and areas for growth. Embrace constructive feedback and suggestions from the teacher. 3) Ask Questions: Don’t hesitate to ask questions regarding your child’s academic performance, behavior, or social interactions in class. See clarification if needed, ensuring a clear understanding of any concerns or expectations.
We look forward to working with you and your child with their education!

Food Allergy Awareness
The holiday season from now through the new year poses additional threats to kids trying to manage food allergies. We would like to increase awareness about food allergies by reminding students and parents of the following:
- Food allergies are very serious. It is not a joking matter.
- Reactions can be life threatening.
- Preventing exposure is crucial.
- Don’t share food, forks, knives, spoons, or straws with friends
- Wash hands before and after eating. Some people with food allergies can get sick even if they are touched by something that has a tiny bit of food on it.
- If a friend with allergies is sick, tell an adult right away. This will make sure that your friend gets help and gets the medicine they need to feel better.
- Food allergies can make Halloween even scarier. Please remember not to bring anything with nuts into the classroom.
Ski Club
It is finally getting colder and it's time to start thinking about Ski Club. When it snows, we meet out at Mt.Holly on Thursday nights to ski and snowboard. You get discounts on passes and equipment rentals by joining the club! The parent information meeting will be held in the EMS library on Monday November 18th at 6pm.
PTO News
Thank you to the parent volunteers at the Unified Arts Halloween Dance. These events are only as successful as they are because of your help and support - so thank you very much for your precious time!
With parent teacher conferences approaching, we are asking for donations to support the staff luncheon on Wednesday November 13th, as well as snacks to keep them fueled up for those conferences. If you're able, we would appreciate your donations as well as your help setting up and cleaning up the luncheon. Please see the SignUp Genius that follows if you would like to help.
Our next PTO meeting will be held at Little Joe's Tavern (11518 S. Saginaw St. Grand Blanc) on Tuesday November 12th at 6:30pm. We hope to see you there.
