During this cold and flu season and uptick in COVID cases throughout the Commonwealth, we are reminding all to go back to the basics.

• Hand washing with soap and water or hand sanitizer should be routine at school and at home.
  
• Stay up to date on vaccines.
  
• If you are sick, stay home.
  
• In Charles City County Public Schools, masks are not mandatory. However, anyone who chooses to wear a mask has that option and can obtain a mask at school.

The first distribution went home today. Please be on the look out!

Join Parks and Recreation for a Croctacular Night at the Croc Gala on Saturday, November 4th. Come dressed in your best attire but don’t forget your crocs. The Croc Gala is open to grades 1st – 6th and cost: $5 per ticket. Tickets are sold online and in person. Event Time: 6 – 9 pm at the Social Center.

Family Fright Night - October 31, 2023

• Join us from 6 - 8 pm at the Social Center for Family Fright Night.
• Open to all!
• The Ruthville Complex will be closed on Halloween from 3 - 7 pm.

Croc Gala - November 4, 2023

• Join us for a Croctacular Night at the Croc Gala this Saturday.
• Come dressed in "Your Best Attire but Don't Forget Your Crocs." If you Ain't Crocin', You Ain't Rockin!
• Time: 6 - 9 pm
• Cost: $5 per ticket
• Location: Social Center Banquet Room
• Grades: 1st - Sixth

Youth Basketball Registration

• Come learn the fundamentals of the game and have fun doing it!
• Instructional Travel Recreation and Parks League. All participants guaranteed to participate.
• Central Virginia Recreation Sports Coalition consists of games played with local Parks and Recreation Departments.
• (Hopewell, Ft. Lee, Petersburg, Dinwiddie, Prince George, Charles City, and Colonial Heights)
• League Play begins January. Practices begin in December.
• League is 5 vs 5. League play is Co-ed unless we have enough girls to participate in the girls only divisions.
• Cost: $45 per player. Cost includes each players own Jersey and Shorts to keep.
• Ages: 4 - 12 | Coaches needed!
• Regular Registration Deadline Extended to November 17, 2023.
• Late fee of $15 applies after November 17 until November 30.

Holiday Family Portraits - November 18, 2023

• Sign up today for a $5 sitting fee to guarantee your reservation.

KidsQuest Afterschool Program

• Registration for Session 2 of the KidsQuest Afterschool Program begins on tomorrow, November 1 for new students.
• Kids Quest runs from 3:45 pm - 6:15 pm at Charles City Elementary School
• Registration Fee: $5.00 (guarantees your child's registration)
• Total Session Fee: $120.00 per child (Due by 12/15) | Payment plans available.
• For Grades: Kindergarten - Sixth

Out of School Day - Play Day

• Date: November 15, 2023
• Play Day consists of a Trip to Cicis Pizza, Snack, Activities and a Park.
• Pick up from school at half day release time (12:45 pm) until 6 pm
• Parent Pick up: 6 pm at the Ruthville Complex
• Cost: $25 per child | Use code "PLAY" for a $5 discount
• Registration Deadline: November 13
• Min: 4 | Max: 12 to facilitate
• Ages: 5 - 12 years

• Need Based and Income Based Scholarships Available
• Scholarships are per child not per family.
• Scholarships are awarded up to $50 per child.
• Apply for a scholarship for this fiscal year by 6/30/24.

Medicare Workshop

Open Gym Basketball:

• Open Gym resumes Tuesday, November 14 at the Ruthville Complex Gymnasium.

Open Play Cornhole:

• Wednesdays starting at 6 pm.

Adult Cornhole League:

• Beginning January 7
• Time: 2 pm
• Cost: $40 registration fee, per team

Charles City Christmas Parade Entries:

• We are currently accepting parade entries until December 1.
• Entries must be postmarked by December 1 to be accepted.
• The Christmas Parade will take place on Saturday, December 9. Rain Date: 12/16
• Parade Time: 10 am. Parade takes between 2 - 3 hours depending on # of entries.
• Vendors are also being accepted for Santa's Workshop. Register today!

• All Charles City County Youth/Teens are encouraged to participate.
• Winner serves as the official 2023 Holiday greeting card of the Recreation Department.
