Number of crops ready and amount of harvest varies throughout the season.

We pledge to provide at least six items each week. If we have crop issues, we'll

supplement with produce from local farms. Some weeks will include

value added items like Jungle Jam, Salsa, and more.

Swiss chard is generally served cooked, as the leaves brighten nicely when sautéed in a bit of oil. The entire vegetable is edible, including the stem and the leaves, but the stems take longer to cook and therefore, should be sautéed separately. Consider seasoning with fresh garlic, a splash of lemon juice or red wine vinegar, black pepper and parmesan cheese. Add Swiss chard to soups, pasta or egg dishes. It can be substituted for most recipes that call for spinach or kale.

Last time this golden veggie was in your basket, the recipes included a cheesy casserole and fritters. But what if you used your squash for dessert?!?! Or if dessert isn't your thing, how about baked with a nice touch of brown sugar? Sounds delicious to me!

Sometimes cooking just seems like too much trouble but you still want a snack or a side dish. What about a nice plate of fresh vegetables with a special dip to kick it up a notch? Even the veggies you might not think about eating raw, like zucchini, patty pan squash, crookneck squash, tomatillos, make a refreshing summer treat when paired with a delicious dip!
