Marie Murphy Principal Message

Dear Marie Murphy Community,

I am thrilled to welcome you back for another fantastic school year! Our team has been hard at work all summer to ensure that our school is ready to provide a safe and inspiring environment for your children. The building is set to go, and our dedicated teachers are already back in their classrooms, eagerly preparing for the students' arrival.

This year, the energy is high as we introduce seven new teachers to our community. They bring fresh perspectives and are eager to meet and work with your children. Please help me to welcome:

All students: In the next week you will receive a letter detailing your student's first-period teacher. This information will help your child navigate the first day of school. In this same communication will be 6th grade math placement letters.

If you signed up for the bus during registration, routes will be ready and viewable in PowerSchool by mid-August. Thank you for being patient and understanding the many moving pieces as our transportation team works through the details!

Marie Murphy is looking for 1-2 more lunch supervisors for the year. Please consider applying for this paid position and supporting our safety during the lunch/recess mods. If you are interested, please email Elena Ryan at ryane@avoca37.org. Lunch is from 11:20-1:00 on most days.

Remember to load your student's meal time account with funds prior to the first lunch period! It is recommended that you sit down with your middle schooler and discuss how much money they can spend during each lunch period. The middle school a la carte options add up fast!

We are excited to share two new clubs to Marie Murphy this year.

1. **JAMM** - Junior Adolescent Medical Minds: If your child is interested in the medical field or has a love for science, they should check out JAMM! (No fee)

2. **iCook:** We are providing space for a company called iCook to offer cooking classes after school to our students. If you are interested, please click the link below to register. (Fee: $184)
