What are we learning?
Reading: We will begin book clubs this week to review and apply the reading skills we have learned this year.
Writing: We will continue our study of poetry. We will also focus on writing our signatures in cursive.
Phonics: We will be reading and spelling words with long vowel teams.
SEL: In this week’s lesson, your child will apply self-awareness and self-advocacy skills to learn when it might be appropriate to ask for help. They will also practice effective and constructive ways to ask for help when needed.
Content: In Content, we will begin our last unit for the year. We will be studying Economics with a focus on natural, human, and capital resources, barter or using money for goods and services, producers and consumers, and scarcity.
Math: We will continue our unit about patterns this week, and we are going to the STREAM Lab to code Root Robots to create 2-D shapes.

Reading - Read 20 minutes out loud with your child. Then talk about the book. Ask about the characters and their personality traits, setting, beginning-middle-end, and the Author's Purpose (persuade, inform, entertain). Try to include non-fiction books as well.
They may also practice their Reading IXL Skill Plan at home.
Math - Practice basic skills for a few minutes each day. Some of these could be addition/subtraction facts, odd/even, or skip counting. Please also work on telling time and reading a calendar. They are allowed to work on Zearn and IXL skill plans at home as well.
