A Slice of PIE
Where Life and Learning Meet
June 2024
What an Outstanding Year!
It is incredible to me that we are already at the end of the 2023-2024 school year! This year zoomed by while we were busy implementing the changes necessary to be a Provincial Online Learning School, working on our new logo, finding a building in the Comox Valley and redesigning our In-Person Opportunities in both the qathet Region and the Comox Valley. We are excited about the changes and look forward to seeing everyone in September. For those heading off to new schools, we wish you all the very best and we will miss you. ๐ For those staying with us, we look forward to working with you again in September, and for those just joining us in September, welcome to PIE! ๐
Thanks to our SD47 communications team, we have another Year-in-Review video to share with all of you. Our students, parents/caregivers, and outstanding PIE staff are โbetter togetherโ and grateful to the qathet School District for supporting us in becoming a Provincial Online Learning School this year.

๐ธ Yoga with Goats!
Because our K-3 students are too young for Camp Imadene, Comox Valley PIE teachers organized a fun event just for them and Goat Yoga, along with a hobby farm tour, did not disappoint.
๐ธ Voyageurs - OLC
qathet blended classes got to step back in time at the Voyageurs program at the OLC!
๐ธ Yippee! New PIE space in the Comox Valley!
Comox Valley staff moved into their newly acquired space at the end of June! They are looking forward to the new possibilities afforded by a 24/7 dedicated space for PIE staff and families. It's like they built it for us - look at the shape of those gables!

Brooks and PIE Grad
We celebrated both Brooks and PIE grads in the qathet Region at the complex on June 8th. We also had our first ever PIE Picture up on the stage! Thirty-one students who crossed the stage were either fully enroled with PIE or enroled with PIE and Brooks this year. Congratulations to all!
PIE Grad at Crown Isle
A lovely group of parents and other family members, district and school staff, and supportive adults came together to celebrate the 2024 Partners in Education Grads. Nineteen PIE Grads attended the Comox Valley Grad Ceremony at the Crown Isle resort this year and it was a joy, as always, to share this momentous day with them. We wish them all the very best in their varied pursuits!
๐ฆธ ๐ฅ First Annual Comic Con at PIE OV ๐ฅ ๐ฆน
Oceanview Campus hosted our first annual Comic Con. Thanks to Ian for organizing such a great event. Students made the trip from Vancouver Island to join with qathet and area students and PIE staff for a day of drawing, video games, puzzles, vendors, great food and lots of fun! Plans are already in the works for next year's event.
Toby Price was our keynote speaker and he came to tell us how he came to write Tytus the Monkey.
