LONGHORN NEWSLETTER
November 2024
November is here!
First marking period has come to a close, fall sports, marching band and activities have concluded their seasons or are in the mix for state titles, the leaves are changing and we are ready for it all! We hit the ground running in August and have not slowed down!
World Kindness Day is Wednesday, November 13.
Last year we shared the information below and I thought it was relevant to share again.
Have you ever been the recipient of a random act of kindness? Maybe someone in front of you in line paid for your coffee when you were having a stressful morning or someone gave you a compliment when you weren't feeling your most confident. Have you ever done a random act of kindness? Maybe you were the person to buy the coffee or highlight something amazing about another.
Being kind has the power to influence others and ourselves in more ways than one. It can bring a smile to someone's face when they are feeling down. It can help remind others that they are seen and valued. It can be the light in an otherwise gloomy day. And the best part? Kindness is free.
Spreading kindness creates a culture of safety and belonging where individuals are celebrated and accepted. Something as small as giving a compliment can create many lasting ripples within a community. What have you done to spread kindness today?

PSAT SCORE RELEASE INFORMATION
Our 11th graders recently took the PSAT/NMSQT and scores will be available to students on November 7th through the new BigFuture® School mobile app!
Here’s how it works:
- Students who provided their mobile number during digital exam setup will receive a text message when their scores are available. They’ll need their phone number to securely access the app, but no password is required.
- In addition to their scores, they’ll see a sample list of growing careers in their state that connect to the math, reading, and writing skills they demonstrated on the PSAT/NMSQT or SAT.
- Students can opt in to Connections™ to hear from institutions that may be a good fit.
- Students who can’t or don’t want to use the app can still get their scores via a PDF report from their school or by logging in to their College Board account.
SCHOOL SAFETY UPDATES
Each month we are required to do an emergency response drill. Last month we practiced a lockdown situation during Lunch and Learn, which allowed our students and staff to practice their responses at a time when most students are moving freely throughout the building. Our drill included observers from East Marlborough Twp PD, the PA State Police, and Chester County Emergency Services, who provided feedback and helped us to process the drill.
In an emergency, we use a Standard Response Protocol that allows us to share a clear and consistent message. This protocol is shared below.

Keystone Tutoring
In preparation for the upcoming exams in December, all students retaking the Keystone exam have access to a Canvas Course with review materials to help prepare for the exam. All students have been imported into the Canvas Course. We are also offering a series of review sessions for students to supplement the Canvas Course. While not mandatory, we believe students will find them helpful in preparing for the exams. Unionville High School faculty will conduct the tutoring sessions. Each session will cover a different topic and be held during lunch and learn.
