Manzelman Circle/Freedom Tower Parking Lot Assistance
Traffic safety around the Manzelman Circle Parking Lot has become a concern, with an observed increase in vehicles turning left into the lot from 8th Street and right onto 9th Street from the parking lot exit.
To address this, we've partnered with JBPHH Security Forces to request some additional patrol presence during drop off and pick up times. If ticketed for an offense of this nature, in accordance with the JBPHH Instruction for traffic, “Reckless Driving” can be cited with a District Court Violation Notice and up to a 30-day driving suspension based on a patrolman’s discretion. We urge everyone to observe posted street signs and follow the established traffic patterns.
Our priority is the safety of our community, and we want to avoid any traffic citations or, more importantly, accidents that could injure a loved one. Thank you for your cooperation in ensuring the safety of our children and families.
Sincerely,
Hickam Elementary School & JBPHH Security Forces
Principal's Letter
Aloha Hickam Families,
We hope your child(ren) enjoyed a successful start to the third quarter. We deeply value our partnership in your child's education and are always here to assist in any way possible.
Excitingly, our after-school clubs are about to begin! To prepare for our Spring Program, which will culminate on March 14th (the last day of the third quarter), our students will be starting rehearsals soon. We encourage you to attend this wonderful performance.
As we gear up for the Spring Program, we kindly request your support. If you have any large cardboard boxes (e.g., from appliances) that can be used for backdrops, props, or other creative elements, we would greatly appreciate it if you could donate them to the school office.
Thank you again for your ongoing support of our school and our students
Sincerely,
Patrick Wetzel
Principal
Vice Principal's Letter
Aloha HES Ohana,
Happy February! As we step into the second month of 2025, I want to thank you for your continued support in making our school a wonderful place for learning and growth. February may be a short month, but it is packed with opportunities for students to connect, celebrate, and grow together. Thank you for being such a vital part of our school community. Together, we’re shaping a bright future for our students. If you have any questions, concerns, or suggestions, my door is always open—feel free to reach out via email at julia.jones@k12.hi.us or by calling the front office at 808-307-4600. Mahalo!
Kindly,
Ms. Jones
Vice Principal
Smart Watch Policy Reminder
As a reminder, instructional time is very important throughout the school day. In many instances, students have been using their smart watches in the classrooms or health room to call home, without the knowledge of the adult responsible for them, which is not allowed. In order to avoid disruptions, please remind your children that they are not allowed to use smart watches to contact home from the classroom, health room or during the school day. As a school, we will contact home, or families can call the front office at 808-307-4600 if you have an important message that needs to get to your child. Smart watches also usually have options, such as "School Mode" or "Focus Time" or "Do Not Disturb" that students can use during the school day. We appreciate your support with this matter. Please email vice principal Jones at julia.jones@k12.hi.us with any questions or concerns. Mahalo!
