MESSAGE FROM THE PRINCIPAL
Hello Franklin Students and Families,
I hope you have all had a wonderful week! We continue to support and navigate the school wide cell phone policy. Students, I know it's tempting to ease back into wanting to use your phone during class time. We ask that you prioritize your learning and keep the phones in the cell phone holders provided by your teachers during the entire period and not take them to the bathroom with you. When we see you in the hallways with your phone during class, we will stop to ask you about it. Stay engaged and focused on your education.
As you may know, our 9th grade classes are overenrolled for this year. This is a very good thing! We have received funding for additional teaching staff to support our 9th grade classes. Some student schedules will be affected starting on Monday, September 30th. Students can see their new schedules in StudentVue beginning on Sunday. Please contact Vice Principal Amy Gervais (agervais@pps.net) with any questions about the schedule changes.
Monday is Orange Shirt Day. Wear an orange shirt to support the National Day of Remembrance of Indigenous Boarding Schools. Orange Shirt Day began as a day to bring attention to the damage the residential school system did to Indigenous children, lifeways, and cultures. Click on the Alaska Children's Trust link to learn more about the history of boarding schools in the United States.
Have a great weekend and please reach out to us if you have any questions.
Thank you,
Dr. Z

Each year every local PTA is tasked with sending volunteers on two dates to staff the Clothing Center, located at the Marshall campus, 3905 SE 91st, Room B-60. Franklin's dates are Monday, October 28th and Thursday, March 20th.
So far this year, the Clothing Center has been very busy, and anyone that would like to help kids shop or help sort donations can head to Marshall campus on a Monday or Thursday school day from 9:30-1:30pm. Even a couple hours worth of help would be very appreciated!
The Clothing Center is currently looking for donations of the following items:
- teen-adult sized gently worn/new sweatshirts, hoodies, and warm coats
- boys pants, joggers, and jeans, sized 4-14
Donations can be dropped off at any PPS school for PONY delivery. Please label the box/bag: PTA Clothing Center @ Marshall Campus. You can also bring donations directly to the Clothing Center on Monday or Thursday school days from 9:30am-1:00pm.
Educator Spotlight
Your PTSA is proud to be kicking off one of our favorite traditions: Educator Spotlight. Now that school has been in session for about a month, we would love your nominations for any person in the Franklin building who is excelling at their job and making a positive difference in the the lives of those around them.
Prior to each of our general meetings, we will randomly choose two educators to spotlight, and invite them to join us and tell us a bit about themselves. It is always the highlight of each meeting, and helps to remind us of all the hard work that's being done inside the building every day. We would love to hear from you!
2024-2025 PTSA Sponsors
