Happy Wednesday Falcon Zone!
It has been so great to have students back in the buildings. Summer break is always welcomed, but our halls are so quiet without them! There are already relationships being built and fantastic learning happening in these first few days of school.
Do you love yummy food? Do you love supporting our Zone's Pantry and Closet? If your answer is YES, Slim Chickens will be hosting a Dine to Donate event ALL Day on Friday, August 9th. Mention the fundraiser and the Pantry receives 15% of sales back!
The FZ Community Closet & Pantry will be open almost bi-weekly, beginning this Thursday, August 8th, and continues to be stocked through your generosity, as well as by some local food banks. The pantry has also been officially expanded into the other side of the modular and I can't wait for you to see the space! We are always looking for donations, both food and monetary and my Amazon Wishlist is always full (see link below)!

Empowering Moments
From Superintendent Smith...
In this first week, it has been awesome to see all of the hard work taking place in our classrooms. Teachers and staff are working with their students to develop classroom visions and codes that help set the tone for a positive year. Our staff is also working to help students understand the importance of "Earning their WINGS" in the Falcon Zone. Wisdom, Integrity, Networking, Grit, and Self-Confidence are essential skills that we want to ensure every elementary, middle, and high school level learner builds upon as they complete their educational journey.
In Mrs. Woodard's 7th Grade Social Studies class at Falcon Middle School, students were learning what each of these WINGS components meant and how they should focus in specific areas to grow their academic skills. This class took it one step further by exploring the content and skills from their Social Studies curriculum and connecting back to how they can "Earn their WINGS". The conversations that the students had were incredible and were a shining example of how all of us are working to ensure Falcon Zone students are best prepared for a bright future!
Falcon Zone Staff Recognition
In the Falcon Zone we pride ourselves on having the most incredible staff! We want to give our community a chance to recognize those people that make a difference in our schools and for our students every day! Please let us know who is making a positive impact for your student. Let us know who has gone above and beyond to enhance your experience in our zone. Let us know who is doing an outstanding job!
Every staff member that is recognized will receive a note of recognition and a shoutout in our community newsletter. Staff members include not only teachers but secretaries, administrators, custodial & kitchen staff, paras, etc.
We want to know who is making a difference! Thank you for taking the time to fill out this quick form!
We 💚 Our Falcon Zone Staff
Thank you to everyone that took the time to recognize some of our amazing staff members. Below are the recognitions gathered from last week!
Brooke Nielson (FHS) - We've been here less than a week and Brooke has already hit two home runs (that I'm aware of): 1. Her introductions for new staff were so fun and helpful; 2. The costumes she designed for us to wear to welcome Freshmen were AMAZING (Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles)!
Michael McDonald (FMS) - Michael was amazing in helping me with some tech issues I was having and answering questions. As a new teacher in the district, I am so appreciative that he is willing to take time from his busy schedule to help me.
Mr. Canuel (FHS) - First, Eric has the best school spirit closet in the history of the world. Second, Eric is super helpful with tech issues. Third, I always enjoy talking to Eric; he's a super pleasant, interesting person. Here's what some students said: Mr. Canuel is a cool vegan guy. (I agree.) Mr. Canuel is very kind. (Agreed!) I'm so glad to work with Eric.
Mrs. Samp (FHS) - Mrs. Samp is the best teacher, and she's kind; she dyed her hair green and has an explosive personality; she's awesome! She is very outgoing and kind. I love her personality. Mrs. Samp is very supportive of Falcon sports. She is so helpful to me. Mrs. Samp is very carefree and chill.
